GRUTTI Shaving Brush Pure Badger Brush for Wet Shaving (Black)

This is exactly what I’ve been searching for. My old badger hair brush has seen better days and for the last couple of months I’ve been using a synthetic brush as a stopgap, which definitely wasn’t up to the job. The GRUTTI brush is a perfect replacement. There’s a good weight to the handle, which means that by loosely gripping the very base I can use the weight of the brush to whip up my shaving cream, whereas with a more lightweight brush I’d have to give my wrist a workout every morning.The bristles are pretty dense, and while the brush has shed a small handful in my first few shaves it seems as if it will hold up very well over the long term. Best of all, as the base is flat the brush can be stored standing bristles up. I have limited space around my bathroom cabinet, and I now have the option of getting rid of the fairly large apparatus that suspends my current brush above my shaving bowl.An easy 5 star rating. The price is right and the quality is impressive. You won’t be disappointed.

I was really hesitant to give this brush fewer than 5-stars. On its own, it does deserve 5-stars for its overall quality and the fact that it contains badger bristles. It's an excellent brush for beginners but not for seasoned shavers. Let me explain...When it comes to wet shaving brushes, I always consider badger over synthetic. However, badger brushes are more expensive so when considering them, one must also weigh the option of how much to spend. Badger brushes can get considerably expensive.I bought and reviewed a brush that cost twice the price of this offering. If you click on my name above, you can find my review of it. To date, it's the best shaving brush I have ever used, and falling into the $30 price range, it's really not ultra-expensive for what you get.This brush, at half the price, is surprisingly good and an excellent choice for starters, but falls short of what you can get for spending just $15 more...Out of the box, this GRUTTI brush looks very handsome. Its handle is striking and solid. It has an ample offering of badger hair.However, the handle is noticeably smaller than what I am used to. While it does fit in my shaving stand, it's a loose fit. Additionally, there are fewer bristles being offered than the one I paid twice the amount for and as a result, I had to do a second pass in accumulating enough shaving soap across the heads. While the brushes did an excellent job of frothing up a lather with a small amount of added water, the process of spreading it across my skin was not as smooth as my more expensive brush. I felt as if I were pasting lather across my face like a spackle job instead of a smoother spread that a larger brush head would provide.There were a minuscule amount of hairs that were lost and a slight "off" scent, both of which are normal in initial use no matter what brand you buy.The bottom line on this GRUTTI brush is that if you are considering going badger over synthetic, this is the perfect starter. However, I do think there is an advantage in spending a little bit more for a larger, heavier handle and a wider gamut of bristle offerings.

This brush restored my faith in wet shaving brushes! I have reviewed a brush a month or two ago that I ended up throwing away - it smelled horrible and burnt and also the dye from the brush kept coming off in the sink. Not a good experience at all. This brush is completely different. First off, right off the bat this is a really nice looking brush - good lines and just looks like a quality brush. Second, the feel doesn't disappoint either - it feels nice and heavy and sturdy. Feels excellent in hand. OK, so it looks good, feels good, but can it lather up some shave soap? Yes and very well. I used some Lorenzo's shave soap and my classic US Gillette razor. I got an excellent lather quick, didn't see any dyes leaching out and not bristles falling out. In other words, it performed great. Overall, I am really happy with it and excited to rid myself of the memory of the old brush.

Heavy and really well made. It’s hard to find a shaving brush that’s not made out of plastic. This is a really durable shaving brush. The only problem that I have noticed is when it’s on my holder. It want to tip over because it’s top heavy. It’s nothing major and it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m just happy that I finally found a shaving brush that is worth the price asked for it. Initially, I had some reservations about the GRUTTI Shaving Brush.After one use, I could see some of the bristles had come out. And it didn't seem to lather very well. A lot of the shaving cream stayed in the bristles and didn't go on my face.But after using it a few times, I am sold on it. While a lot of the shaving cream does remain in the bristles, it does a great job of lathering on my face, getting the shaving cream under the beard, allowing for what I feel is a better shave.And the brush seems to be holding up fine. I haven't spotted a lot of fibers coming out anymore,

On the positive side, the handle is the best I've used, and I've tried a lot of brushes. It looks great and has a good grip to it. The bristles, however, are disappointing. I wasn't expecting one of those gigantic shave brushes, but this one seemed lacking, compared to most. I found the bristles ultra-soft which made it difficult to get a decent face-lather. I had to re-load for a second pass, something I rarely need to do. If you use this brush, I recommend you do a bowl lather then paint it on. Afterwards the bristles looked scruffy though that's not a major concern. Overall I'd give this mixed marks.

Stop abusing your face and making shaving a chore.
