Worked for it's purpose, loud
Got this due to my central air suddenly not working and a sudden heat wave during Fall. Kept the entire second floor cool, but was loud and made a loud noise with vibration that kept waking me up every time it kicked on.I was going to keep it in case the central air stopped again, but it was hard to get sleep when it kept jolting me awake so I returned it. Seeing the other reviews it seems mine was defective, so I would totally buy it again if this situation happens again. My favorite thing about this product was the flap on the top where the air comes out is adjustable, and you can set it to slowly go up and down to move the cool air around. I wasn't able to test the dehumidifier on it, I have no idea if it really worked or not.One last thing to mention was the power bill, even with it on full blast non-stop for a month, was lower than the central air that only kicks on maybe a few times a day to regulate the air temperature.Tldr: It works and keeps a decent sized area cool, but has a chance to be very loud and vibrate enough to wake you up. Also it's very heavy, be careful! Energy bill lower than with central air on that only kicks in a few times a day.

One unit works perfectly right out of the box!!!!The second unit was used.
I purchased two A/C units and Amazon somehow has combined my two reviews, one good and one bad. My first review:My home A/C is having problems and I submitted an emergency work order to have it fixed. I have two large Old English Sheepdogs with long hair and my indoor temp is over 80 degrees. I managed to keep them semi-comfortable with 5 shop fans...what a stressful experience. I ordered this particular portable A/C primarily because it would arrive within 24 hours and the specs seemed like what I needed for them. I couldn't believe my eyes when I found it delivered at my door at 9:30 am the next morning!!!!!! Wow. It was ordered and delivered within 12 hours. It gets better... I had it setup within 2 hours and it works perfectly!!! My babies have literally fallen asleep and not moved a muscle for an hour. I never write reviews but this A/C and delivery is an exception. I would recommend getting a unit as a backup emergency in case your A/C ever fails. The A/C unit is very impressive too. It is highly quality manufactured and has many options. Although I struggled to pull it from the box, I realized later that the box detaches from the bottom so don't break your back lifting it. It should slide up while the unit is standing on the bottom of the box. I am so happy I ordered this Black and Decker unit!!!!5 Days later....This unit has proven so effective (I have a 1200 Square Feet home) that I ordered another one. I hope I have the same luck with the next one as I have with this unit.3 days later:I just got off the phone with an Amazon Manager. The second unit showed up within 24 hours BUT… it was a used unit and looked like it was literally thrown in the box! Having not opened the box, Amazon gave me $168 discount if I kept it. I checked it out and it was working perfectly with cool air and no oil smell like other reviews. But I had to clean it up b/c whoever used it before me had handprints and dirt all over it. It came without plastic bag over the unit and some parts were broken and it didn’t have the styrofoam protectors for shipment. I decided to take the discount and keep it since I only need it in emergencies and it was working, but after the discount, I still paid over $300 out of pocket. It makes me rethink ordering big purchases from Amazon. I could have got it cheaper from Home Depot (and a new unit), but since my experience from the first unit was so good, I purchased it instead from Amazon. Please believe customer reviews before you order from Amazon. The manager took the serial number and is contacting the warehouse and will call me back with an explanation on why I received a bad used unit when I ordered a new one. I’ll be sure to let anyone interested know the outcome.

Remote failed but was an easy fix. Overall, decent small AC that works.
I needed something for super hot days at my mountain cabin with no place for a window or wall unit. This does not cool the entire 1000 sq foot area downstairs, but combined with a ceiling fan to circulate the cooler air, it does enough to keep it mid-70s when it is sunny 90s outside. Not super quiet, but tolerable. Does what I wanted at a reasonable price. The remote was working one day and stopped the next after I had only used it a few times. It seemed to me that the metal spring contact points for the positive ends of the batteries were recessed too far in the plastic case and were not getting good contact. So I removed the batteries and used a small tool to gently pull the little springs out of their holes enough for good contact -- photo shows springs after my fix. Problem solved! Remote back in business. Hope this helps someone, as I see several people have had issues with the remote. Stay cool!

Does the job in my RV…
I purchased this to cool my small truck camper. I initially had problems but after experimenting found out I did not have it set up properly. Hopefully this will help others… A camper is air tight, unlike a small architectural zone in a home or office. This unit expels hot air to the outside that needs to be replaced by an equal amount of ambient air. Because my camper is air-tight the unit was pulling a vacuum until it couldn’t pull anymore and then it would trip out. I opened a little access panel on the opposite side of the camper and now it works like a charm. I’d give it 5 stars but it could be smaller and less expensive. There is always room for improvement. The instructions also could have identified this potential issue, but then most consumers are using this architecturaly.
