For Good Shade This Is A Good Deal
This is essential on our patio. It was easy to install and it is easy to bring in and store away in the Fall. The roll-down mechanism seems sturdy enough but we've only had this a couple of seasons. I'm thinking it will last a long time since we don't leave it outside all year.

Wife loves the shade for early evening sunset
When sun starts setting late afternoon / early evening, our pergola over our deck becomes non-shading, and the sun beats on you from side of deck. The wife loves to eat outside on deck, and this sun shade is great for taking that blinding sun down a few notches. Installed in 15 minutes, and extremely easy to raise / lower as needed.

Quality shade cuts glare and heat in our gazebo
We purchased two Cooleroo cordless roller shades to increase the privacy and shade potential of our Yardistry gazebo. We had been suffering from the large amount of direct sunshine beaming in there in the mornings and early afternoons. The shades have vastly expanded the amount of time we can comfortably spend outside. Their breathability helps keep the air circulating. We selected the mocha color, which looks great as it matches the gazebo's stain color. The two shades were easy to install in just a couple of hours, and the way the Yardistry gazebo is structured allows us to keep them completely out of sight when we aren't using them - we just tucked them onto a beam directly under the roof.

Great roll up sun shade for our veranda
We have a veranda with a Southern exposure and evening sun. As a result, it can get pretty bright and pretty hot in the afternoons and evenings. We love the outdoors and frankly couldn't enjoy that space as much as we liked last year. With two of these babies in place creating a filtered environment we've already been able to enjoy afternoons and evenings without turning away from the sun.Installation is pretty simple with one bone to pick with the instructions. They mention a distance of "hole to hole", when a number from bracket to bracket or inset to inset would be much more reliable. The screws let you move each bracket in or out depending on your needs. In our case, we mounted the cam (crank) side next to a 6x6 post so it isn't moving in one direction in any case, so we took a third screw up into the header and two to the post. We did rotate the cam and receiver 90 degrees . Effectively it's all mounted to the header.FInal note, and not something I'd downgrade on my review. One unit came damaged. There is a clip on the receiver side that someone broke. Coolaroo actually has a replacement part. They sent us two with no questions asked once we got them a picture of the broken piece. The "problem" if you want to call it one, was that someone obviously had tried to install that unit and messed it up. Then returned it. We'd have returned it had they not sent us the part, but it was a little annoying that the product was sent to us without being inspected upon return.

A great product.
A great product. We have three of these (adding them as we could afford to across our glass-walled back living room). Excellent quality, easy to install and they have served us well to protect from the blazing sun where we live in the sub-tropical Gulf Coast. What I appreciate the most is that our beautiful backyard can still be seen, but the worst of the sun's heat into the house is minimized. Easy to install. Easy to roll up or down as we need to from season to season.

Best dollar for dollar investment!
Yes, yes, yes there are negatives but the usefulness far outweighs the negatives. I bought two to cover two windows in an office. Before installing these I could not work in the office during the heat of the day. After installing the shades, the room is much cooler. And my electric bill is less. I like the ability to change the amount of heat allowed into the windows (by rolling the shades up or down). If I had tinted the windows, then there's no option to allow more heat during the winter. So, that's one major reason i opted for these shades as opposed to permanent tinting. The instructions say two people are needed for installation. I did install these by myself and I'm not the most handy person (not the least either). They seem durable and resistant to years of sun damage. Even if they only last 3 years it's still worth it. However, after a couple years I see no signs of wear on the shade or the hardware (no rust or failure to operate). I do keep the handles used the wind the shades up & down inside the house. The negatives?(1) Frogs love to hide on them and are prone to getting bond up when rolling the shades up or down. Squish. (2) It is manual (3) The spooled shade can get crooked while rolling it up. ----The main point is that I will buy again if the time comes.
