Play Japanese games on your US N64!
This is a converter. You plug it into your North America based N64, then plug in a Japanese game, and it will allow you to play it. It works great, and since I can get quite a few Japanese games at much lower prices, it's economical too. If you have a have that requires lots of reading though, you might want to skip this because Japanese games are, of course, in Japanese. But if you're in it only for the gameplay, it's great! I love mine and it works well

Be wary, it bites.
Be very careful with this. It had a death grip on my ED64 and has caused the ED64 to stop functioning. Upon checking the contacts there appears to be a scratch on them. I now have to replace my cartridge. I will not use this device for fear of damaging one of my other cartridges. This should be something simple to pull off, but pulling the cartridge out it it removes the whole thing from the console and then you have to pulled pretty damn hard to get the cartridge out of it. Upset with this as I love my Hyperkin 3 HD. This one hurt me.

Functional for at least US-Japan compatibility, but grabs cartridges way too hard...
This passthrough adapter works great for playing my Japanese N64 games on my American N64 system, and I'm sure it would work great for playing American games on a Japanese system. There is no software region lock between US and Japan, so this is an easy test. But I have not tested PAL compatibility.I used to use a Gameshark cheat device from the 1990's, but those were cheaply made, fragile, have no support at the top (so the cartridge could wobble, or stress the Gameshark PCB since not much is supporting its weight), and required masterkey codes for different games, creating a hassle with constantly needing to swap cartridges every time I just want to start a game of Japanese Super Smash Bros. This device is more compact, feels more robust, and does more to support the weight of the inserted cartridge. There's also no need for masterkey stuff like a cheat device would need - it's just plug and play. Games that use the Expansion Pak (i.e. Perfect Dark) can still access it just fine.It would be a slam dunk, but unfortunately there is one issue: it puts an unreal deathgrip on whatever cartridge is inserted. I play and collect a lot of retro games. I've inserted unlicensed Wisdom Tree games with fattened or non-beveled PCBs into my Sega Genesis. I've played a ton of NES games on a cheap $20 clone console from 2010 that was known for the grip it puts on games, and the effort it takes to get games out. But I have never, ever seen anything quite this bad. Every time I want to put a different foreign game in the converter, I need to take the converter out (it grabs the games waaaaaay harder than the console grabs it, by a long shot) and use considerable strength to separate the cartridge from the converter. Maybe it's a matter of "breaking it in" and I need to use it more, but I'm a little worried that repeated use with a small number of foreign games will wind up scratching their pins worse than any authentic console cartridge slot would.

Works great!
My husband accidentally purchased a Japanese N64 and US games. They're region restricted, so they are not compatible. This adapter allows us to use both together without permanently modifying anything. We are so happy!

The conversion worked well.
This conversion Kit made this North American game cartridge to work on a Japanese console. Works well.

Works for JPN to US conversion but no PAL support
Works for Japanese games but doesn’t work with PAL region games which it says it does :/You can also just cut the tabs out of an N64 (USA) for the JPN region support so not really worth the $25 price. Unless you really don’t want to open your N64.

Works as intended.
It allows me to play both Pocket Monster Stadium 1 and 2 on my NTSC-U Nintendo 64.
