Beyond wonderful!
This is the second large Taschen art book I've purchased this fall and, boy, was it worth it! Vermeer never looked better. Closeups and clipped selections from his paintings just add to one's appreciation of this masterful painter, and of course the paintings shown fully take your breath away. I held back spending a good hunk of $$ on one item but, well, we only go around once so I went for it. Worth it 100%. A gem!

Beautiful and Great Historical Reference
I’m an art history buff so this book seeps into my inner being. The author's expertise is outstanding and his style of writing is enjoyable to read. Lots of helpful cross references to Vermeer’s contemporaries in Europe. Best of all are the exquisite photographs of the masterworks themselves. The book is smaller in size but worth the small price for this gold nugget of a book!

Interesting
There are many photos of sections of the works which allow you to see them as though you were up-close. There are also many other works by other artists from similar time and place. Great historical and biographical information also. I really enjoyed this book.

Absolutely Stunning Work!
Vermeer of Delft has long been one of my very favorite artists. I own a book of his complete works by Albert Blankert, published by Phaidon, which is a fine compendium by an authority on the subject of Vermeer and have savored over the images for many years. When I saw that Taschen had published "Vermeer: The Complete Works", I looked forward to seeing what it would be like as I own their volumes on Caravaggio and DaVinci which are gorgeous. Well, I surely wasn't disappointed as the photographic images of Vermeer's works are just perfect. I have only seen one of Vermeer's paintings in true life, but suffice it to say that I can tell that these images are very accurate in color to the originals. Comparing the images with the book by Blankert, the flesh tones are less garish and more closely in line with what Vermeer intended. In the Blankert volume some of the images are only in black and white, so this is the first time I am seeing many of them in color. Other people have posted photos of this Taschen volume, so I'll refrain, but I highly recommend this publication to anyone who savors Vermeer's work!

Incredible
This large book of Vermeer’s art in whole images and closeups is incredible. There are even fold out pages. Pages are thick and very good quality. I’ve never had an opportunity to see Vermeer’s art like this before. Highly recommend.
