Easy, Clean Looking, Functional
Very easy to install and a great product. So much nicer seeing this thing on our back patio than the typical pile of hose. It eliminates tangles and kinked hose. I recommend 100%. I do not leave reviews often, but this has been a great addition around the house I felt I should for others.

Install per directions.
So far no concerns like others stated with retractability. Seems very sturdy after installing per instructions. Very easy to pull for watering. Size is really compact, I was amazed how small it is.

I have mixed feelings about this
So, there are some confusing things about this reel. First is there are two options for the mounting bracket...metal and polypropylene. The metal one costs $30 bucks, but there is no guidance on why one wants metal versus the poly, and even the company's website is silent on the issue. I contacted support and they say it is personal preference, and no comment on which is stronger. It is confusing, because having a metal bracket that holds the polypropylene studs of the housing is the same weakness with the polypropylene. The second issue is the pressure drop. My house outlet shows 60psi and it is supplied with 1/2 inch PEX piping. You would think a half inch, more or less rigid hose would maintain that, but the outlet pressure is no more than 40psi. That causes a loss of performance.Installing the unit was easy enough, but arriving at the final design can take some fiddling. The instructions need more clarity about anchoring in brick, on a post, into typical home sheathing, and whether getting screws into studs is important. Finally, it is disheartening to know that almost all failure modes require replacement of the entire unit. The literature and the company's website makes it clear that hoses cannot be replace. It is also very clear that any failure in the retracting mechanism cannot be serviced. Whether these failures occur, or how long before they occur, determines how much of a value this hose reel is. If it lasts a year, then it's not a good value. If I get three years from it before having to replace it, I might not be upset.

It worked well enough… until it didn’t!
I purchased three of these retractable hoses in March 2022. They were somewhat difficult to install- a two person job - especially if installing into concrete wall or brick. I used each one maybe once a week around my gardens. The first hose broke in August 2022. A second broke by exploding in my face in September. The third hose (the one that was used the least due to location in gardens needing less water) still works, but I don’t have faith it will last. I contacted Giraffe tools to honor their 2 year replacement warranty. I had to “chat” back & forth for a hour because their rep claimed they had no record with of my purchase. I sent copies of invoice, screenshots, etc. I was told they’d send replacements. Later that day, someone contacted me via email and I went back & forth with them on the same issue I thought I resolved earlier in the day. They claimed no proof of purchase from Amazon even though I had receipts & obviously bought them from Amazon or I wouldn’t be leaving an Amazon review. They said “contact Amazon.” So, today I spent about 45 minutes chatting with Amazon, forwarding the chat transcripts & multiple emails to Amazon customer service who agreed that Giraffe tools should’ve honored their warranty. But, since they didn’t, Amazon will offer refund less restocking fee. That was the only solution. Now, subtracting for a restock fee seems odd because these are broken; they cannot be restocked! However, since it’s the only way to recoup some of the loss, then that’s what I must take. My advice is to not order this retractable hose or any products from Giraffe tools because apparently they are of subpar quality and the company will not honor their stated warranty. Save yourself time and trouble and find a retractable hose elsewhere. And, make sure you pay via a credit card that has a product warranty benefit, just in case.

Good so far
Works as advertise so far,I’ve only had it a week. We’ll see how long it lasts with a year follow up review.

Love the hose reel, but received a defective one most likely, was replaced. TBD how it holds up...
Update: They sent a replacement. Will update my review since they responded will a replacement.Previously: Would not recommend this water hose reel and was really excited to use it to solve our problem. Their other products may be fine, but this broke in two weeks and customer service dragged their feet on responding, on offering to repair/replace. I sent them everything they needed, then they asked for a video, etc. I was careful with this hose reel, knowing it's mechanical and would need to be carefully retracted and unretracted, so there was no abuse here. I was not given a return option here even though it was less than 30 days, but I chatted with Amazon support, told them my experience and they refunded my money and send a return label. Thank you Amazon for your support where the manufactured fumbled it.
