I've only had one other brand of Basmati rice, Royal Authentic Basmati, so I am by no means an expert on Basmati rice. That said, I have a very good and discriminating palate. This does have extra long grains, and in my opinion, smells and tastes better than the one previously mentioned sold at the big box stores. It's not that Royal isn't bad, I eat it too. If cost is the main issue, go with the cheapest Basmati you can find, but this Hemani is worth it in my opinion. Hemani is more expensive, but it's cheaper than the other premi/um extra long brands. Basmati is supposed to be the lowest glycemic and the healthier of the white rices (I'll miss you Jasmine), so that's where I'm going from now on.

This extra long basmati is so good and easy to make! It's my go-to for any recipe that calls for rice!

The cooking instructions are excellent. I had no idea that soaking the rice resulted in longer grains. Great tip. The quality is the best I've had. Not a single brown or spotted grain.

Not as advertised..grain length was of average size..a bit pricey for the product.

A little mushy or consistency than the kind I bought from Amazon in the past but still pretty good.
