Trouble with 5000 series processors? Think about updating the BIOS.
I kept getting random crashes with a Ryzen 5 5600X and BIOS version 1.20 (the first that supports it). After doing a clean Windows install and testing the RAM with memtest and passing 100%, I was ready to blame the motherboard. However, I decided to try updating it to the most recent version (1.70 at the time of writing), and lo and behold, the crashes stopped (so far anyway). So if you have a Ryzen 5000 series processor and are getting random crashes, try updating the BIOS.I also had a similar issue as another review regarding enabling XMP. After saving, my computer would just boot into a black screen. I had to jump the CMOS and unfortunately the board doesn’t come up with a jumper. However, you can just touch the pins with a metal screwdriver/paperclip for about 10 seconds or so and it’ll clear it up.So all in all, I think it’s a good board, and most of my issues were probably more on the processor side since it’s so new. This is my 6th year using ASRock motherboards, and I think I’ll continue to in future builds.

Functions as expected.
The motherboard is perfect, all the bells and whistles without breaking the bank. This is my first ASRock motherboard and I can say the build quality is first-rate. The software, however, is pretty poor and has an unfinished, amateur feel to it, not as good as ASUS motherboard software. ASRock’s advice on which BIOS to use is poor and their BIOS update descriptions are effectively non-existent. But the shipping BIOS is working for my build just fine so no worries there.

Really solid motherboard for the price. Cheap no frills get the job done board
Really solid motherboard for the price. Worked first try, easy to figure out, really basic but easy IO and fan ports. For the price, it was worth every penny. It's features are really limited but it's one of the most inexpensive b550 boards you can get. If you want a cheap, no frills, decent looking and gets the job done motherboard for newer Ryzen cpu's, look no further. The reason I DIDNT give it 5 stars is mainly the i/o shield (backplate). It's a REALLY disappointing piece... plain silver aluminum with no design, color, etc For $135 they could do better on that.

Has worked great for me so far.
This thing works great, has everything I need. Handles my Ryzen 7 and is supposed to be good for the next few generations too. It’s simple and easily handles my setup. (I’m not blasting it with RGB and heavy fans so I can’t say I’ve tested its full power)My only complaints- the latches for the GPU are sensitive and one broke, and also would be that the USB 3.0 pins are very fragile and also broke (maybe I’m heavy handed?) but there’s only one connection for them so now I’m without usb 3.0. There’s still regular slots it just stinks I’m down 2 (and they’re in the most convenient places)

Has Everything I Need
Well- built and good looking. My first ASRock piece of tech and I'm so happy with the RGB support and PCI Express gen 4 support. Two m2 NVME lanes one gen 3x4 and one gen 4x4. Two GPU lanes one gen 4x16 and one gen 3x4. One m2 for SATA and one m2 for Wi-Fi key. A usb type c on rear I/O panel. I/O shield has holes for bluetooth/Wi-Fi antenna, just remove armor and rout wires, reinstall armor (gives cleaner look).I you want windows 7 you need a ps2 keyboard for installation. Otherwise no input is recognized and install is blocked. I personally had to install windows 7 first to do my free upgrade to 10.

I had onboard sound issues
Built my own computer, with help from a professional over Facebook chat. Repeated sound card issues led to ordering a USB-to-plug-in cord adapter that would "see" my speakers as a sound device.(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GWX2HHN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)The person who helped me said this was the only time she'd had this particular problem with the onboard audio not working. (I believe her, but if I build another computer, I don't think I'll be ordering one of these to go in it.)Before getting to that point, we'd tried 3 or 4 other things, including adjusting settings for the Nahimic onboard sound. Very few things worked from the Nahimic end, and there is almost no documentation about it. (I came across a thread on Reddit and one or two posts elsewhere saying that particular software doesn't work at all.)I was past my return date on the board or I would have gotten it replaced.I plan to order a sound card eventually.

Works for my little brother
I purchased this motherboard for my little brother to upgrade his current computer setup. We were lucky to receive a Ryzen 7 5800X through an Amazon pallet that so happened to have a load of return processors aboard around Christmas. I used this motherboard to replace the Z97/ i7 4790K processor my little brother was using previously. So far, no complaints! He and I are happy with the product.
