Q: Can you keep the water/formula solution in the tank for extended periods of time? It won’t eat away at the plastic would it?

I’ve kept the solution inside the tank and it has not eaten the dissolved the plastic.

Q: Does this machine heat the water?

It will heat the water when turned on but you should start by filling it with the hottest tap water you can to speed up the process. The instructions say to turn it on and let it sit while the water heats up before spraying the stain.
