VERY EFFECTIVE RACCOON TRAP.
Use apple slices to lure them in. Use cardboard to cover up the tense cage wire/trap. Lure them in w dry cat food.Make sure that’s the only food around.I teach mine to go swimming… 🤣

Missing crucial parts, but sent replacement
EDIT: The manufacturer responded within a week and is sending a replacement. It's annoying that the quality control was bad, but the customer service to get it resolved was very smooth. The trap came missing the parts that keep the second door open/closed and it's not possible to trap anything. I realized it after the return window and have contacted the manufacturer in hopes that they can send a part.

Works Well for Cats
We have been feeding a family of stray cats, parents and kittens, along with four other adults, only one of which has been spayed. We plan to trap them all so we can take them to the county for free shots and spaying or neutering. The first attempt caught a raccoon, which I brought to a nearby wooded park and released. Just glad we didn't catch the skunk that cleans up all the leftover food overnight. Yesterday we easily caught one of the kittens as I watched, so no risk of skunk spray. I gave him a water bowl, a can of food, and an old towel to lie on, hopefully to reduce the stress until he arrives for treatment. We're off to a good start.

LOST CAT MUST HAVE
This is the best humane trap to use for cats! I purchased several of these when I was hunting my missing cat, and let me tell you that I also purchased only the one sided traps that they had at a local home depot. The 3 one sided traps I purchased from home depot, only one didn't have to be adjusted to be triggered. The weight of my whole hand jabbing the trigger wouldn't set it off and the metal had to be bent and adjusted. These beautiful double sided traps from Amazon, none of them needed to be adjusted. The sensitivity and trigger was perfect for my uses upon arrival. The boxes were in great condition and these traps come like unfolded so they're ready to go right out of the box. These traps are so great because whatever you're choosing to bait with, you don't have to either spill the bait out or reach your entire arm into painfully like you do with the one sided traps. These traps are versatile and offer more interest to more skiddish animals as you can leave both sides open. Beware, these traps work so good you might just catch the interest of your other neighborhood critters😆 I caught a skunk. And if you read this far and need to know, yes the missing precious cat is home after a grueling eight days, almost nine. If you're desperately purchasing these to catch your cat, don't give up on them, sometimes it takes a longtime and it can feel so hopeless in the beginning.

Disappointed
Bought it for an armadillo. It broke out of the trap by breaking the weld on the door. It forced open the latch, and bent the cage up. Trap is pretty much useless unless you know right away you got him. Give it a little time and the trap isn’t going to hold.

So easy to operate!
This arrived quickly and I set it up in the space with gate open right against the trap. Without bait, we quickly trapped the skunk that has been terrorizing the neighborhood. I won’t go into the next steps that happened when dealing with a live skunk. But I will say this trap is super easy to set and snapped shut perfectly. Let’s see what we trap tonight!

Excellent for trapping raccoons
We assumed we couldn't afford a new Havahart, and the one we had (for forty years) was too small for the raccoon that killed some of our chicks. We had been trying various forms of homemade barrel trap for a couple weeks. I was getting pretty fed up with the bandit(s) stealing the bait and foiling the trap night after night, so I decided to check Amazon. I found this 1045 model at a great price that we could manage. It took three nights of trial and error, but here's what we did that finally succeeded and has continued to work without fail. We affixed the trap to a 2x12 board with a hole in it. In the ground below the hole in the board we dug a six inch deep hole. That's where we put a marshmallow or two; they really seem to love marshmallows. This is a two-door trap, but we left shut the door next to the hole in the board and ground. We put a marshmallow on the floor of the trap above the hole and affixed some mason's wire mesh onto the side of the trap so the raccoon couldn't reach in from the side. We attached the trap to the side of the barn with three wires run to nails. We used two log ollies (for assembling log houses) to anchor the trap on its board to the ground. We put one more marshmallow just inside the open door of the trap. Finally we made sure the trip mechanism was set as hair-trigger as could be.Over time we found that the mason's wire mesh is not necessary and placing a marshmallow in the hole in the board -- without a hole in the ground underneath -- is enough to trap raccoons, but occasionally we come across a particularly cautious creature that needs to have the whole set-up in order for him/her to become distracted enough to trip the plate. The trap is very sturdy and, according to the trail cam pics, stood up to six hours of abuse from a furious, panicking 29-inch-long, 20-pound raccoon that was trying to escape. The trap has caught dozens of raccoons now, some bigger than that one. It's holding up well. Even though it took some modifications and experimentation to trap these clever raccoons, I am so glad we bought this trap and highly recommend it.
