Q: Is this rope UV resistant? I would like to leave it permanently installed on my roof, exposed to weather 24/7, for several years.

The instructions say, "When not in use, Full Body Harnesses should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not store in areas where damage from environmental factors such as heat, light ... or other degrading elements may be present." The rope is polyester. It will degrade in sunlight.

Q: There is mention of a 6 foot energy absorbing lanyard, is that an extra additional item to purchase? What is the shock pack?

The shock pack and energy absorbing lanyard are the same thing, and are included with the harness. It is six feet of webbing folded and tied to about one foot, but tied in a way that it will release and break the energy of a fall.

Q: There'sa loop on the back and I'm not sure what it's purpose is?

It’s to hook up to the rope and keep you from falling. Please learn how to use it properly before using it, it’s not going to help you it you use it wrong.
