Superb, thorough, complete
I took my first backpacking trip in 1985, and I've got a shelf full of books about hiking. None are better than this one. It will allow you to plan both dayhikes and backpacking trips. The author describes the trails and their access points with precision, and he balances presentation of the facts with the explanations of his opinions. Well done!

Great Resource
Great info, with clear & easy to understand topo maps & info like elevation gain, scenery ratings, etc. Well-written too (the author has a penchant for Tolkien... no complaints here).Nearly comprehensive selection of trails, including PCT sections that pass through & even some winter snowshoe routes. If it included some of the more well known boot-beaten scramble paths (ie. Barrett Spur, Eliot Glacier West Moraine, Mississippi Head) I'd say this guide was truly definitive, but alas. Nevertheless, a fantastic day hiking guide!

Missing elevation profiles
I won't be road testing this guide until summer but I really wish that elevation profiles had been included. That makes it so much easier to select the appropriate hike.
