Horton Hatches the Egg

One of my favourite childhood books
I read this book so much as a child I knew it off by heart! The story of poor Horton the elephant, who does a favour for his bird friend Maisie, but then she swans off and enjoys her life leaving Horton sitting on her nest! Children will love the ridicules story of an elephant sitting on a bird’s nest in a tree!I bought this copy for my friend’s son and I hope he loves it as much as I did.

Best Dr Seuss book in my opinion
Love this Dr Seuss story... and it should be, it should be, it should be like that because Horton was faithful.. and I love him.. I bought it for my grandson whose 18 months, probably still a bit young for it ( I was given it when I was 18 and have loved it ever since).

A book that teaches kids perseverance
This book has a lot of nice points about it. The bad points are only that the mother bird comes across as really, really mean

Firm favourite
This book has been a firm family favourite ~ to the point of being able to recite it. Usually at family dinners. I have purchased this for the next generation - unfortunately it does not have the wonderful hardcover like the old book we have. Fantastic story. Made better when I saw an elephant bird.

Horton Hatches the Egg
Not entirely logical esp at the end, but our grandchildren love it. It shows the importance of caring and responsibility, no matter what personal inconvenience is involved. It is also an opportunity to talk about peer pressure!
