Hard Times Require Furious Dancing: New Poems Paperback – August 27, 2013

Having read several of Walker's novels, it was a great pleasure to be introduced to her poetry. Like most poetry by African American writers, it just sings of the passion and life force contained in these strong, memorable ladies. These are simple but profound poems of life and love and passion and despair and all the other emotions we humans contain. Brava!

I would recommend Alice Walker to anyone! This was a gift for my friend who loves Alice Walker, but I also love her. The Color Purple is only the tip of the iceberg. Walker has so many great books and poems.

I got this because the cover is art in itself.

Alice Walker is a hugely gifted writer. Poetry, I believe, is her favorite form of writing, so reading this is a treat.

I love the poems and the illustrations -- I've given this book as a gift on numerous occasions, and refer to it regularly myself.

Wonderful words that make you want to dance in joy, in anger, in pain for any reason at all. Speaks to the heart especially of women.
