3" Very misleading.
I am not a professional plumber but I do know enough to be able to get around plumbing issues. this is called a 3" sanitary tee, the female portions of the pipe are clearly labeled with a cast in 3" number. but the problem is the inside diameter of the fittings are 3-1/2" Making it not usable on 3" pipe. quality of the material is very good but i cant use it. not sure why that is labeled the way it is.

Very pricy
I just bought one of these (3" sanitary tee pipe fitting schedule 40 PVC DWV for $6.32 (including tax) at a small rural building center in Maine that does not give any discounts.

Exactly What I Wanted
I needed a Tee to divert the sump pump into the basement utility tub in case the pipe freezes in winter in addition to some "design" issues with the main run outside that will eventually need resolution. Most hardware stores carry a 1-1/4 inch Tee, but don't have the curved outlet on the 90 degree. I surmise it would be less efficient and restrictive with a straight 90 degree angle.Pros: Has a curved 90 degree, 1-1/4 fit the piping exact, prompt shipping.Cons: A little pricey at $15.23 (why the heck is it $2.24 cheaper than when I ordered less than a month back?).Summary: Was exactly what I wanted and fit perfect. Once everything was hooked up, worked like a champ and eliminated possible restrictions with the main. I was tempted to knock a star off because of the pricing difference, however, maybe I'll just buy another one at the cheaper price to have just in case or for a spare pump.Disclaimer: Permanently diverting into a basement utility tub (essentially into the sewer), may be an ordinance violation so check your local codes. Usually if it's temporary because of a failure or to work on the main outside run, it's okay.Sump Pump Tips: Be able to divert when needed, and include a shut off (as seen in the pic). Always keep an identical spare sump pump and setup in case of failure to replace quickly. Get a battery backup and/or have a generator ready in case of power outage.
