The BEST...hand's down!
I have been battling a rat problem for 2 months. Spent $1000 having an exterminator repair all holes that might have been entry points, and he put traps out all over the place. Two weeks in, still hearing the rats in the attic, and not one trap snapped. Exterminator tried different baits, I spent another $70+ on electric zapper traps. The rats must have PhD's because they avoid the traps like the plague. In a last ditch effort, I got this Tomcat bucket after reading reviews. To say I am flabbergasted and pleased is an understatement! Finally, something that works!! I can't recommend this stuff enough.

Effective, if cruel and messy
I've had rodent infestations on and off for half a dozen years. This stuff works really well though it does take a good week or two to fully the house. The product works two ways: Ingestion and contact.!. If the mice eat it, they are poisoned and die in about three days.2. More importantly, it works by contact: The mice don't have to eat it. As long as you sprinkle enough of this stuff around the house, it will poison the mice through contact. They walk on it for several days and they absorb the poison. As I said, this is not humane at all: It's a slow and very painful death. And I don't think I'd recommend it if you have pets or children around. But if you absolutely need to clear out rodents this stuff really works.

Bottom Line -- This Stuff Works
I got this bait 0n New Year's eve and started using it that very day.We have rats that get into the walls and up into the attic.I used to use the Decon pellets and they always worked.Unfortunately,Decon doesn't make them anymore.I tried their bait blocks and although they do work, the bait stations you have to put the bait in really doesn't make it very practical to use.So I decided to try the Motomco pellets. It comes in a 4 pound tub with 22 3-ounce pacs{they call them 'place packs'}.You place a whole pac where there is rat activity. However,I have my own proven method that I used with Decon -- I simply put some bait in a jar top.If the jar top is empty in a day or two,I put in some more{this cuts down on overuse}.This usually is enough. This bait, like the Decon pellets, takes 2-3 days to take effect{evidently it has a chemical in it that is similar to what the Decon pellets used}.So how does it work? Within 3 days of setting out the bait, there was significantly less rat activity -- and I mean it was noticeable! When you get this bait{evidently the company wants to be on the safe side},they tell you to use gloves when applying the bait.Unless you're planning to use A LOT of bait{like say on a farm},wearing gloves isn't really necessary for home use.If you handle the bait, just make sure you wash your hands good.Let me also say that of all the bait types to use,the pellets are best way to go.They by far are the most practical to use and are easily and quickly put anywhere where there is rat activity. As I said before -- this stuff works!

Mice are loving it
I just got this today because mice have taken over my garage. I know I haven't had time to see if it killed the mice yet but they are eating it as fast as I can put it out. After I put some against a wall where they like to hide, within 15 minutes i had to put out more. I've read reviews where ppl said they saw that the food was eaten but they never saw dead mice. That happened with a different brand i had. The food was gone and I couldn't find any dead mice to dispose of, but I didn't see any live mice after about a week either. I don't think they got in the walls because it would have smelled, but they were gone and that was good enough for me.

Did NOT WORK On Roof Rats in my Attic--Formula for Consumer Product Version NOT EFFECTIVE Enough
This particular product is unavailable in California hardware and home improvement stores so I was initially thrilled to find it available on Amazon. This particular brand was also the ONLY available version with packeted poison pellets on all of Amazon that was shippable to California. The problem is that it did NOT work at all. I eventually had to hire a licensed exterminator and he told me that the consumer/retail version of this product only has about 25% of the poison that the commercial version has (due to more recent California consumer saftey regulations). He said what I bought from Amazon will generally work for mice, but not larger sized rats. I had bought this same brand product a few years back and in worked in 3-4 days, but he told me that was before the state mandated that its formula be weakened to be safer around consumers. So it may be safer around people, but the rats continue to roam free. If you are buying this for roof (attic) rats DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY and put it towards an exterminator.

Very Powerful And Effective But There Is A Drawback
So my suburban home was being overrun and well on the way to being conquered by rodent kind. They were flaunting the strength of their numbers by running through our attic all hours of the day, completely defeating our garbage can containment in the garage, having well attended social gatherings in hallway walls, and tournament style arena fights with audience participation in the walls of my man cave. I purchased traps that would defeat athletic rats and Olympic level squirrels. They would somehow repeatedly activate the traps and eat the bait. Ate all the peanut butter and bathed in the buckets I used for the roller/drown traps. Then I decided that I'd had enough and purchased this product. For 3 DAYS straight the rodents ate every bit of pellet I put out in the garage and storage shed. They ate a little more than half the bucket. Then, on day 4, the feasting stopped! The good news: The attic and walls of my home are quiet and at peace. THANK YOU!! The bad news, so I've only located about 3 bodies of the rodent squatters (one easily in excess of 3 lbs). The smell of decaying rodent now permeates my home. Flies are begging entry at every window and door. I recommend you purchase a LARGE selection of scented candles that you can deploy after the fact if your situation is in rodent overflow before you use this product. Oh, and some fly swatters.
