Q: Can you use a champagne bottle with this?

I would say yes, but I don’t know why anyone would want to aerate and decant champagne. Also, the pressure buildup would likely cause the champagne bottle to violently separate from the carafe! With that thought, let’s just say NO it’s not for champagne!

Q: there's no directions in the box on how to use the cleaning beads???

Put the beads and a little water in the decanter and shake it to rub beads and decanter against each other to remove wine stains. Remember not to add too much water.

Q: where are these made?

It is made in China but does an amazing job of decanting the wine and you can put it back into the bottle to serve after it’s aerated

Q: From the pictures it looks like the top is 2 parts, does the top act as a topper/seal to keep the wine fresh or is it just for aerating?

The top is in two parts. You could leave the aerator part on if you wanted, but the second piece is really the topper/seal. Either way you have a tight seal, but I usually take out the aerator piece to wash it and then just leave the topper to seal the decanter. It is a very cool decanter set, by the way, and I love the ability to decant and then reverse the process and pour the decanted wine back into the bottle.
