Q: If you were to wrap the wire around something and twist the ends with pliers, will the coating flake off?

The outside of the wire is more of a platting instead of a coating and adheres well to the core wire. The pliers probably could scratch through the platting but it would not flake off.

Q: How stiff is this wire ? Can i use it for push rods on my model airplanes without bending easily ?

The wire is soft steel and not difficult to bend. If your push rods are only a few inches long and the forces are not too large the wire might work. You might consider using piano wire, a spring steel which is much stiffer than the wire in question.

Q: I am making mobiles - will this wire be suitable for the arms in a mobile?

It is great flexible wire to work with about anything. I have used it to manufacture hooks, and also to anchor my young trees in the yard by threading the wire through plastic tubing to protect the tree and then tying off the wire to metal fence post. However, to keep critters out of a garden, I would consider rabbit fencing. The wire would work well for electric fencing.
