Excellent light output that doesn't blind others
I use these on a 1999 Ram 3500 4x4 truck I drive to work in the early morning hours of between 330 and 5am. I paired them with replacement stock type fixtures and they fit and function precisely as they should. What an improvement over the yellowed out and dim regular bulbs and fixtures! There has been no flashing of headlights at me, and yet they have plenty of bright output to see on low beam setting. The high beams are even more impressive for distance and clarity. The price of these bulbs is fair and a realistic value and they are also DOT compliant which was another requirement for me.

work well
These lights definitely are brighter and have a great beam pattern. Do they last as long as regular bulbs, no. It clearly shows that on the graph on the back of the package. My wife has a hard time seeing at night and these have really helped out. They happen to also fit into my truck, so I started running them too. I can see the ditches of two lanes better when watching for deer. I have a 2000 ford superduty, wife drives an 03 jetta, they last easily twice as long in my truck, with both being daily drivers. we can only figure it has something to do with the day time driving lights. we both have them, hers are just brighter. Worth the money for us, we choose seeing over being cheap this time. I do keep an extra set on the shelf so I always have them ready.

Getting these is a "bright" idea...
These lights are MUCH brighter than the stock bulbs for any car that I've dealt with. I've replaced stock with Silverstars and now Silverstar Ultras on every one of my cars and recommended them to others on their cars. I had a friend who said that it should be "illigal" to use the stock headlights after I replaced the ones on his Jeep Cherokee with the Silverstars.I have used the Sylvania Line for several years now. I find that they last a very reasonable amount of time, although I have heard several complaints made about them I think they last about 2 years on my wife's car and I have had the Silverstars in place as my fog lights since about 2006 and they are still working just fine (that's 6 years ago). I don't use them all the time, but they are still great! Not much more to say, they are VERY bright and last about 2 years for our use. That's just about as much as I would need them to last under normal circumstances, so I'm very happy with them.

and Sylvania said "let there be light"!!!!!
DID NOT REALIZE HOW THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE HAD DIGRESSED UNTIL I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM NOVA SCOTIA CANADA TO FLORIDA IN WHICH THERE WERE MANY HOURS OF NIGHT DRIVING.....WHEN I HIT TWO NIGHTS OF RAIN I COULD HARDLY MAKE OUT THE ROADWAY AND REALIZED IT WASN'T MY "GETTING ON IN YEARS EYESIGHT", BUT MY VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS FAILING TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE ALLUMINATION!!! AFTER SEEING SYVANIA'S ADVERTISEMENTS ON THEIR SILVER STAR HEADLIGHT BULBS I DECIDED TO GIVE THEM A TRY. PRIOR TO ME CHANGING THE BULBS I PARKED MY VEHICLE ON A DARK LONELY PORTION OF MY ROAD, TURNED ON THE OLD HEADLIGHTS, AND MARKED OFF THE DISTANCE ON BOTH THE LOW AND HIGH BEAMS. AFTER CHANGING THE BULBS I REPEATED THE EXPERIMENT AND FOUND THAT THE DISTANCES HAD INCREASED APPROXIMATELY 100%. I REALIZE THAT BULBS WILL DETERIATE WITH AGE BUT WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NEVER THIS GOOD. CUDO'S TO SYLVANIA ON THEIR ACHIEVEMENT ..THE BULBS LIVE UP TO THEIR CLAIMS...THE ONLY QUESTION NOW IS HOW LONG WILL THEY LAST????

1000 hours on sales page; 180 hours on package
They install easily on a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500:*Unplug - remove retaining ring - pull out old bulb*Put in new bulb aligning notches - screw on retaining ring - plug in cableThey give a differential High/Low beam and are brighter than the old bulbs which had a 2000 date printed on them, which is why I thought I would try them. However, the rated life is totally different from what's on the blister pack compared to what's on the Amazon page. The Amazon "Technical Details" state a 1000 hour life, while the back of the package states 180. Just a bit of a difference to make the sale. There is nothing on the package about the bulbs being DOT compliant (legal), but the Sylvania website states "All SYLVANIA bulbs meet DOT and SAE regulations," which is why I got them.3 stars for not being up front about the short lifespan and actually posting misleading numbers.
