Splashes a bit
Used inside a terrarium! A little loud and definitely splashes outside the basin. But looks fairly natural and is exactly what I was looking for.

Beautiful lighted waterfall with a lot of atmosphere.re.
This is a wonderful edition to a home garden feeling. I did have problem, due to an error on my side, but this was easily and generously resolved by the team at Alpine.

DOA PUMP: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM ALPINE
I received a fountain with a dead pump. The literature that comes with it promised great customer service. I emailed them with pics of the box and the fountain that was not working right. The box has all of the info i.e. model number, description, mfg. number, weight, bar codes, order number from Amazon, upc number, shipping code, vendor item number, etc. -every single piece of fountain info I possess. Alpine answered with several texts with further requests. Did I submerge the pump in water? Yes, Look at the pic! I read the instructions before assembly. They wanted my order number. I sent this from my phone. Then they texted that they wanted it in a format sent from a desktop computer. I don’t have one. I ordered from my phone. The pics of the box have all of the numbers and info concerning the fountain! The pics of the fountain show that it doesn’t work. The light comes on, but the pump is dead. Then they texted to disregard previous text. My question was “which text”.After texting back and forth I just started an Amazon return. I supplied the pertinent info. Amazon supplied me with the return info. I sent it back. That is good customer service. Look elsewhere on Amazon. DON’T BUY AN ALPINE FOUNTAIN. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. I don’t have time to fuss around with these picky requests and delay. The fountain is for my massage business not for personal use. I let them know it didn’t work and sent pics with all the info and proof I could possibly provide.

I just wish I knew ahead of the game that it would make a mess
The problem that I’m having with this fountain is, I can’t slow it down meaning the pump I try to slow it, but it just won’t. It’ll either go all the way off or it goes high and with that it’s splashes water out all over the place. I cannot dare put this on my oak tables because it will ruin it just disappointed that it’s a messy fountain. I don’t know what else to do with it

Excellent Fountain. Beautiful, soothing, and inexpensive.
The media could not be loaded. I have had this fountain for about a year, give or take. I love it. It's well made, excellent detail, and functions perfectly. I add water left over from not finishing my water bottle every couple days. lol The water level is visible, which on some fountains you have to work hard to determine the level. It's very soothing, although I prefer the sound of running water to splashing water so I use crystals to control the actual flow. I just looked at some of these at a different site and they were easily twice what this one costs, so it's an excellent value! I have decorated mine with dollar store items and a few random rocks and crystals I've acquired very cheaply.Every person that comes into my office comments on how beautiful and soothing it is. I definitely recommend this one! I genuinely love mine.

Perfect for my terrarium
The media could not be loaded. Built a bioactive terrarium/vivarium for my crested rainforest gecko. Wanted a fountain to cycle the water through the substrate and also act as a water dish for my little guy. This was perfect. I installed a 95 GPH pump in the substrate so it would have enough power to give it a 2.5 foot lift (I doubt the pump it came with would have the power for what I needed). I was able to connect the tubing of my pump to the original tubing of the fountain so aesthetically it would appear to function how it was designed with the water coming out and flowing how it is shown. Setting it up with the higher powered pump allows the water in the substrate to get filtered all the way through the system to clean and maintain the water, while allowing it to flow out of the front of the fountain so I don't have to ever clean my gecko's "water dish". It also maintains the humidity of my tank and waters my plants. I took netting and wrapped a ball of small rocks. I placed the ball directly under the front of the fountain going out a few inches. Then I put a small layer of soil over them and covered it with a plant that likes to be continually wet. The rocks allow the water to flow through without soaking the surrounding soil so that my other plants don't get overwatered.I hope all of this makes sense because this is the kind of info I was looking for when I was trying to figure out how to build my vivarium.I really like that this fountain looks very natural while also having the small "pond" at the bottom. I found it to be the perfect size for my tank which is 12x12x24. It's pretty quiet, a small tinkling like you are somewhat close to a small stream. With my tank door closed I can hardly hear it. If you are looking for a fountain for your tank, this is perfect in appearance and function!

Poorly designed but fixable
The media could not be loaded. I like this item but it took a lot to get it there. First, mine also stopped after two weeks and I discovered the foam filter at the very top was clogged already with slime. I yanked that out and replaced it with some copper wire to cut down on algae and break some of the force of the water being pumped out the top. It took a bit of pump adjustment to keep the water from flooding over the top. Not a job for those with large hands because of the tiny access door. BTW this problem could have been eliminated by designing the top just a little taller and doing away with the permanently slime catching foam. Second, I took a small piece of copper sheeting(more algae inhibitor) I had from the hardware store and created more of a pool on the first waterfall. It now sounds more like a trickling stream than a running facet. Nothing seemed to stop the splashing except propping something in front of the lighted waterfall. (See pictures). This fountain took some adaptations to make it sound pleasant and not splash on the counter surface but it’s one of the few I’ve bought that lends itself to making adjustments.
