...A little background about me: I am 375lbs and 5 feet
9 inches tall. Last year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and
have lost a significant a of mobility (not not mention
gaining 115lbs). I went from being someone who was ain
biking 10-15 miles per trip to having to have my husband help me
stand up or get out of bed. Life was utterly miserable and even
the prescribed percocet wasn't helping. I had days where I sat
down and cried because I'm not even 29 yet and my body felt like
it was 80. Fast forward to February 2012: An amazing doctor
finally figured out that I also had Celiac disease. After
changing to a gluten free diet, I started to regain some of my
mobility and strength as my body began to get tion again. I
finally felt like doing something again but going to the gym to
work out was significantly beyond my ability at the moment. Then
I found the Chick! Yesterday was the first time I worked out
with the DVD. The DVD is broken down into different weeks, each
week adds a little more to the work out as you slowly build up
endurance. I started with week one and was guided through a small
warm up, short aerobic workout (maybe 5 minutes?) and then a cool
down that was similar to the warm up. For me, this worked up a
sweat, got my heart rate up a little, but didn't overwork me.
When I was done with the workout I thought I can do this. Best
feeling ever after the issues I've been through! That
night I slept well, and woke up feeling a very moderate a of
soreness to my muscles (the good sore! not the fibromyalgia
sore!)... -- User Review
...The companion DVD also called The Chick Works Out! is easy
to move along with. No hard workouts and it won't have you so
sore you can't get up off the floor. Been there, done that. This
is a nice more leisurly exercise program and I do really like it.
It's much easier to do than many of the routines that you see
from the professional workout gurus. I like the factthat someone
like me is doing the routines along with you. I know that
sounded mean, but hey I'm 184 pounds. I don't want to watch a 100
pound girl work out who's never been a day in her life! She
has no idea what I'm going thru and the troubles I've had trying
to lose weight and stay on a sensible meal plan. A 100 pound man
or woman has nothing in common with my life or my lifestyle. They
have no clue as to how lose the weight because they've never
"had" the weight on to start with. I know there are some who know
what they are talking about, but it's not from being there. So
the Chick is someone who can understand exactly what you are
going thru. She's living it just as you are. She's like your
partner in crime she's got your back... --icsnacker.com
...I am impressed by all of the options on this DVD. You have a
ton of different ways to feel comfortable with your workout. Not
only does she separate it by weeks, so you can learn each one of
the weeks at your own pace, but she also provides step-by-step
instructions, separate from the workout, that show you how to do
the steps. Each one of the steps is pretty easy to catch onto,
though, so you don t have to do the step how-tos if you don t
want to. I appreciate that this beginner workout DVD is
low-impact. There isn t any jumping or hopping around. For those
with a lot of weight or those with leg injuries, this makes it
much easier to follow. There is a lot of stepping with your feet
in different patterns, and at some points, she does put in some
arm movements, but it s nothing too complicated, so really,
anyone can follow along. You may find yourself a bit bored by
some of the movements after four weeks. Each one of the four week
segments is its own actual routine, so you actually have three
different fitness routines on here. After four weeks of doing the
same moves (mostly applying to the beginner four weeks), you
might find yourself a bit bored by the same movements, but I
promise that the 2nd and 3rd routine on the DVD are much more fun
movements, and those really brought a lot of cheer to my regular
workout routine. I absolutely love The Chick s workout style.
She s very upbeat and positive about the whole thing, and she
doesn t push things too hard or too softly. Her quips about the
workout made me laugh and smile, and that s what I want in a
work-out leader. She does things like call your kicks the Jackie
Chan kicks that makes you smile and makes things so much more
fun. She s definitely fun to follow along with. The movements
aren t your traditional just curl your arms either. The movements
are fun and enjoyable. I also love the reason that The Chick
wrote up this DVD. She specifically designed this DVD for fitness
intentions. She says that she doesn t promise , but
she does promise that you ll feel more y and more in-shape
than you had before you d done her DVD. With all of the DVDs out
there that promise to make you thin in 6 weeks or whatnot, her
tone of seeking out exercise just for your own positive
and fitness is really refreshing... --iheartgiveaways.com
