The first thing that happened is that the latch for the lift up side fell off. when I went to rescue it in, I found that the holes were too large and the screws wouldn't stay in. So I tried gluing the latch on with no luck. Threw latch away. The box it is sitting on the floor of my parakeet cage because it is impossible to get the second screw on to attach it to the side of the cage. One's hand cannot reach into the side that doesn't open on top in order to attach the screw to the wing nut. And the holes are too close to the top, so the metal washer doesn't even fit. I am going to have to make new holes (like one of the pictures erroneously shows) side by side near the entrance in order to get it on the side of the cage. I think if one is serious about a nesting box, better to go to Pet Smart or Poet Co or somewhere and get a heavy wood one. This one is very, very thin wood. Like the kind you punch out from sheets. Craft wood. Update: I drilled two more holes that were accessible and attached it on the outside to the cage.
