My first batch was that way, even after letting the unit run for 25 minutes. Before I started, I assumed that I was going to have to let the ice cream sit in the freezer for at least a few hours after being made. I checked it this morning and the ice cream was perfect. I noticed something in the instructions that may explain why some didn't think the ice cream was as firm as it should be. The instructions said to prepare the bowl by putting it in the freezer for at least 8 hours at -18C or -40F. I don't know anyone with a freezer set that low. Our freezer is recommended to be set at 0F. I think in most homes, it's not possible to do what the instructions direct. I don't consider this to be a big problem because you are going to put the ice cream in the freezer anyway.
