I'll answer questions posted to the review.I have been a decent home cook for about 12 years. I have never had issues getting anyone sick with my cooking probably because I tend to over cook chicken and pork on purpose, to make sure it's done.With the exception of the thanksgiving turkey that comes with its own thermometer, this is the first time I actually use a thermometer to make sure my chicken is cooked, but not overdone.My observations are as follows:1. It is very intuitive. On/off button. C or F for temperature. Handy chart on the back of the thermometer to see what is the correct temperature of your meats.2. It has a cover. It's a little hard to get it out of it, but you don't need to call your strongest family member to help you.3. Easy meat insertion. Quick to get to temperature, just a few seconds.4. Comes with batteries. Ready to use after a simple wash. Package opens easily.5. Looks exactly like the thermometers I've seen used in food shows.6. I don't believe you are meant to bake this in the oven with food. Remove food, check, remove thermometer.Unfortunately I cannot compare the reading of this thermometer to one more expensive since this is my first one. I didn't give it 5 stars because I don't "love it". It's nice and adequate. It isn't overly wonderful for the price or particularly beautiful. It is functional. How long the battery lasts remains to be seen. So far, so good. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good while it lasted, less that 6 months measuring milk *by A***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2016* I bought one of these 6 months ago for frothing milk. I hand-washed the tip and never washed the top. After around 4 months some segments of the digits started not coming on. Now about half the segments don't work, making guessing the temperature it is displaying a kind of puzzle! Basically the right product, but not of sufficient quality. Would not buy again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fast and efficient! *by S***M on Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2015* This is MUCH nicer than I was expecting. I love that I can change the temp setting between Celsius and and Fahrenheit. It is nice and long so I can easily read the information from even a think roast or a turkey which was often a problem because I would have to hold my other thermometer with my hands while it came to temp. This is fast and it seems right on with the temperature references that were printed on the box. I also really like the storage case which will keep it nice and safe in my kitchen drawer. I received a discount on the price of this thermometer for providing my honest opinion. I do have to say... even though this is a meat thermometer, the temperature gauge and the quickness of the temp settings makes me wonder if I can get away with using it for candy.
