After contacting the seller (good response time), he assured me the depth of the dowels and such on the "Civil War Revolver" style is the same as the ones for the rifles, I went for the "Civil War Revolver" style. Got the the rifles hung, but not the 1911 yet. The hardware that comes with the mounts is good quality. The sheetrock wall anchor is one of the best/better designs in the market, that have the pointed end so you can start it with a hammer, and than a very deep screw thread to finish setting it, by screwing it in. I still drilled a starter hole just smaller than the shank of the anchor. Worked great, the anchors started real easy, and screwed in w/o mashing the sheetrock into crumbs. They didn't cheap out with old cheapo style wall anchors. With that said, I wouldn't hang a 10lb rifle with just the wall anchors on both hangers. The hanger that goes in the trigger guard, I used a 2" #6 screw into a stud. When hanging the rifle horizontal level, most of the weight will near the trigger guard on most rifles. The one out under the barrel, yup the supplied anchor and screw worked great, so you can pick your spot on the hollow of the wall. Hanging a pistol with the anchors would be just fine. I did some "testing" with the 1911, the balance seems off, when level it wants to flip up, and I think the dowels will be a bit big , and dominate the pistol, not sure yet, still have to play with it.
