My husband installed it to a wood fence, so that we wouldn't have to manage locking our fence with a padlock. It's battery operated, so no additional power supply is needed. Only issue was that we were missing instructions and even the ones available online weren't super clear. But, we figured it out. Final result: looks awesome and functions extremely well. Highly recommended! ### ⭐ Worked great... for all of 9 months. :/ *by E***N on February 25, 2018* I really REALLY liked this lock. But unfortunately, I have to score this one down to two stars as it bellied-up on me in only 9 months. Actually, the solenoid lock and doorbell switch are fine... but the key pad - which by the way is the most expensive part... no longer works. Well, the keypad works, and will let anyone in by pressing any button on the keypad at this point. I've reset the keypad to no avail.There wasn't any misuse, nothing to void the warranty, etc... just one day went to replace the alkaline batteries I've always used (Amazon Basics) and it wouldn't respond to my codes. I reset it so the Master code is 1234 again, and when you press 1 2 3 4, it will unlock the solenoid as it should. Press 4-9 and it unlocks it as well. It doesn't respond to the doorbell switch (or any switch for that matter) so it's basically a $190 waste.I will retrofit my gate for a mechanical push-button lock and say the heck to over-priced fancy stuff. Too bad for GTO... I was about to dump $1100 for a double mule-gate opener for my other gate. Eh... I don't think so now. Sorry, GTO. :( ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great solution for pool gates! *by B***R on October 25, 2015* I've installed 5 of these for pool gates for a few local homeowner's associations. It's a great product at an incredible price that works where the only other solutions would involve installing weldable gate boxes and cylindrical prep hardware (kaba 2000, Alarm Lock DL2700, etc.) which is often impractical and always expensive. These will bolt to almost anything and the latching arrangement leaves a wide margin for wobbly gates.Reach thru/reach over is always a problem with 4' high pool fences so I've been mounting these facing sideways (towards the hinges) so they can be operated from either side of the gate. Code in, code out. Only other alternative would be to remote mount the push-to-exit button or increase the height of the fence/gate and add a barrier to gates with pickets wide enough to reach through. Most customers don't want to do that.It is possible to do back to back keypads with this and a FM137 but be aware the FM137 stays active for 40 seconds after the last key is pressed in a valid combo, a flaw that could be exploited by tailgaters, plus it's twice as many batteries and codes to change. . . which is why I mount them sideways when possible. No mounting hardware for the lock or strike bracket. 5/16" carriage head bolts work well.Contrary to other reviewers, I have not had a bad keypad yet. Everything works out of the box so far.PROS: Extremely versatile. Heavy construction. Lots of wire and extras included in the package. Simple and easy programming. 25 codes, plenty for most situations. Easy to adjust if your gate or fence moves.CONS: Clevis pin and cap is a joke. I can never get the cap to seat properly. I just use a 5/16"x3 1/2" stainless hex bolt and stop nut. As others have mentioned, not much room inside the case for wires.
