**Q: Country of origin?**

**Q: When mounted, does the jaw opening clear the edge of a bench top?  I need to be able to hold long objects vertically, over the edge of the bench.**
A: If mounted correctly, any vise will allow protrusion of objects beyond the benchtop line. You have to consider your mounting surface and mounting materials (bolts, screws, etc). If you have a 2x4 framed benchtop and want to use bolts and nuts, it will not because there is no room to allow for proper overhang. If you have a metal bench, then you'd be fine.

The item was extremely well made for an offshore tool. For the price it was good value. I've used it a lot since I bought it.

### ⭐⭐ Poor example of Wilton craftsmanship.

Wilton has a strong reputation for quality and this little vise certainly isn't cheap. It is, however, a far cry from the quality of other Wiltons. Mine arrived with scuff and chips, which I think is common for any vise after shipping. The finish is clearly sprayed on all at once with the vise fully assembled. The paint is oversprayed onto the swivel washers and bolts, with the red base coat showing under them. The rest of the paint is sloppily applied where they made some attempt to mask things like the jaws. The internals are where thing thing really fails. The barrel of the movable jaw looked like it was shaped by an angle grinder. The alignment pins were completely asymmetrical and very rough, which made opening and closing the jaws very difficult. Every part of the inside was rough and sharp, which means nothing moves smoothly. To get mine to work at all, I had to fully disassemble it and hand sand the moving jaw barrel smooth. I also had to drift out both alignment pins so they could be filed smooth and adjusted so they were aligned with the keyway on the movable jaw barrel. I also had to stone the mating faces of the swivel base, as they were rough and slid against each other very poorly. After around an hour of work, it is fairly usable, but still nowhere near what you'd expect with the Wilton brand and price.
