The only negative is that it does not have much in the way of internal structure so when you put it down it just kind of sags unless the center compartment is full. I used it for a 16mi backpacking trip (2 overnights) in the Shenandoah in Virginia. It was my first time doing anything like that! I didn't experience any wear and tear, it fit everything I needed with some room to spare! I did not pack a tent or cooking gear otherwise it would have been full. I did sweat some on my back from working hard but I feel that the backpack did its job well with the ventilation!
