The bumps you see on the 4-corners of the case are hollow, which allow for some compression when the phone lands on a corner (which is how my first OnePlus One phone died with the flip-case). The rubber has a nice grip and stays in your hand very well. I have has this case for over a year and even with taking the case off every few weeks to clean it and the phone the case is still tight on the phone. After a year I am looking and picking up a second one because mine has some small scratches and one of the corners has a little damage from a drop, but the phone is still pristine.
