Review: The best of the best RAID for Mac - I tried being cheap and building my own raid using another brand enclosure and other brand HDDs. It would work great then act weird. Promise does stand behind their products. They even helped me save my 8 drive raid when one drive went bad - 48TB of lost data. They did a TEAMVIEWER session and forced my bad drive back online and I was able to save all the data. So, I spent $4500 dollars and bought a 2nd PROMISE raid. Enough said. Review: Quick shipping. Simple. Fast. - Good price. Arrived more quickly than I expected. Plugged it in and it worked (Mac PowerBook Pro). Extremely fast. I'm very pleased. My two previous Promise Pegasus discs (8TB and 28 TB) have been very reliable, but they're full and I hate deleting old backups and files. ## Features - Up to 40 Gb/s port speed—twice the speed of Thunderbolt 2 and four times the speed of USB 3.1 - Dual Thunderbolt 3 ports allow up to six daisy-chained devices - Ideal for 4K and high-resolution video editing and creative workflows - Advanced RAID engine supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 - Backward compatible with Thunderbolt 2 using a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter - FREE license of ChronoSync Pegasus Edition backup software for macOS included ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B01N6NS0DV | | Additional Features | Portable | | Brand | Promise Technology | | Built-In Media | Pegasus R8, Power Cable, Thunderbolt 3 cable | | Cache Memory Installed Size | 48 | | Color | black | | Compatible Devices | Desktop | | Connectivity Technology | USB 2, USB 3 | | Customer Reviews | 5.0 out of 5 stars 2 Reviews | | Data Transfer Rate | 40 gigabytes_per_second | | Digital Storage Capacity | 6000 GB | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00704118113019 | | Hard Disk Description | Mechanical Hard Disk | | Hard Disk Form Factor | 3.5 inches | | Hard Disk Interface | USB 3.1 | | Hard Disk Rotational Speed | 7200 rpm | | Hard-Drive Size | 48000 GB | | Hardware Connectivity | Thunderbolt, USB 3.0 | | Hardware Platform | Mac | | Installation Type | Plug In | | Item Type Name | Promise P3R8HD48US 48TB RAID System (8X6TB SATA) with Thunderbolt 3 Cable, External Hard Drive | | Item Weight | 24.2 pounds | | Manufacturer | Promise Technology | | Mfr Part Number | P3R8HD48US | | Model Number | P3R8HD48US | | Number of Items | 1 | | Read Speed | 40 gigabytes_per_second | | Special Feature | Portable | | Specific Uses For Product | business, personal | | UPC | 704118113019 | | Warranty Description | 3 Year | ## Images ![Promise P3R8HD48US 48TB RAID System (8X6TB SATA) with Thunderbolt 3 Cable, External Hard Drive - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81ZcNpQZ0VL.jpg) ![Promise P3R8HD48US 48TB RAID System (8X6TB SATA) with Thunderbolt 3 Cable, External Hard Drive - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/818sEL7octL.jpg) ![Promise P3R8HD48US 48TB RAID System (8X6TB SATA) with Thunderbolt 3 Cable, External Hard Drive - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81LM+4bo0LL.jpg) ![Promise P3R8HD48US 48TB RAID System (8X6TB SATA) with Thunderbolt 3 Cable, External Hard Drive - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81B9+pCAtVL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size, Style** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best of the best RAID for Mac *by C***A on February 18, 2019* I tried being cheap and building my own raid using another brand enclosure and other brand HDDs.
