I tried it out at home first. I'm a side sleeper and I tend to curl up one leg - the cot kind of dips just a teensy bit but enough for me to notice it in that leg curl position. You don't really notice it just lying on your back. anyway- I chose to put one of those camp sleeping pads on top of the cot and it was very comfortable. it also made it just a little bit more wide which turned out to be a good thing when my dog wanted to share the bed with me on a cold camping night! I highly suggest pairing the cot and a sleeping pad, it is super comfy. I also put a fitted twin sheet over the whole thing had to kind of cinch a corner to keep it "tight" to stop the pad from shifting. I was totally glamping, my friend was jealous. This cot is very sturdy.
