My name is Mike at SP BelArt. This hydrometer can measure the density, but cannot measure the temperature. You would need a thermometer for that. Also, the density of milk is generally around 1.030. This is just within this hydrometer's range. I would recommend a hydrometer with a closer range, like 1.000/1.070. (B61801-5300). I can recommend our 500ml Graduated Cylinder (F28695-0000), or our Hydrometer Cylinder (H17817-0000). Either case, the cylinder is about 2" in diameter and about 12" tall... We also compared it with our other lab units and it's around 0.17 out compared to all our other units. And of course, since this is paper inside glass, there was no way to calibrate it.BUT: Bel-Art sent a replacement free of charge, which is great service considering that we're on the other side of the world! ### ⭐ Poorly made, not accurate *by M***H on March 24, 2022* I rarely give 1 star reviews, usually I like the stuff I buy. This was different.Firstly, this measures the density of distilled water at about an inch below the 1g/mL mark. I think the paper inside the glass tube slipped while they were making it.Secondly, the overall build quality is not very high. I would have given it a pass if the measurements were accurate.Third, it comes with a little pamphlet claiming this is made to NIST standards.
