Purchased to sit between a PC (my music server) and television to strip the audio out of the HDMI signal to send to my integrated amp via digital SPDIF. This allows me to bypass the DAC in the television in favor of the better DAC in the amp. Since I have two optical-in ports on the amp, I ran a second SPDIF cable from the television digital-out port. This allows simple A/B comparison. There is a noticeable improvement to audio quality via the optical output from this device.PC, running Audirvana music software, -> HDMI out to this extractor ->> both an SPDIF line to my DAC/amp and HDMI to my television. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars ARC swicth not quite working as expected *by B***. on Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2020* This unit seems to work as advertised, although the ARC switch doesn't operate as expected. Regardless of the position of the ARC switch, the "ARC" functionality is active. When feeding sound from my Roku (attached to TV) back to my A/V receiver, the receiver gets the sound via the ARC regardless of whether it is in the on or off position. The only difference seems to be, with the switch in the "ON" position, I get Dolby Digital sound to the receiver; whereas, with the ARC switch in the "OFF" position, I get 5.1 channel sound to the receiver. In theory, with the ARC set to "OFF", I should not be getting any sound from the Roku/TV to the receiver.
