Great bag! Pricey, but worth it considering what you get.
I am very picky about my gear, and I am confident that I will probably never have to buy another pack. I'll try to be as objective as possible; What is this pack not? It's not a multi-day or overnight camping pack. It's designed to allow a photographer to carry his entire camera/lens kit, water bladder, and a few meals into the mountains or around the city for a day as comfortably as possible and I think it does this better than any other bag in it's class. There is no room for camping gear, and that's not what it is designed for so that is all good. If you want a multi-day backpacking camera pack, look at the f-stop brand. Otherwise, read on!I'm an avid travel photographer and backpacker. This thing fits in the overhead no problem when fully loaded. The construction is as solid as any high-end hiking backpack I've ever used. Lowepro really hit the nail on the head on the suspension system; The straps, back and waist/hip straps are lined with plush, high quality breathable padding and are fully adjustable just like you would find on a high-end Gregory pack. If you are an experienced hiker you will definitely appreciate it. Hoofing it 5 miles with 40 lbs of gear in the pack and I was never uncomfortable.Plenty of storage internally for everything you would want to carry on a photography hike... a couple of DSLR's, 5-6 pro lenses, tripod, filters, flash, electronics, etc... The waterproof cover is well made and is a great feature, tucks away below the pack taking up no room when not in use. The pouch that cinches down on top of the main compartment comes off and functions very well as a roomy fanny-pack style holder for spare lenses and filters if you want to put the main pack down and walk around to take some pics.Expensive, but considering what you get it's well worth the price.

Fantastic bag but has jumped in price by around $300 since bought it in 2019
I love this bag. It's one of the best bags I've ever owned. i can fit so much gear in that it's basically my mobile studio. The only BIG down side is the laptop pocket as it will not adequately protect your laptop. If you let this bag fall backwards from an upright sitting position it will break your screen even when using the included sleeve. other than that it champs holding stuff. I've used it daily for 4-5 years now and it still hold strong I it's total weight is around 60lbs with all of my gear in it. Even after all of these year the straps still function as if new. they are still very padded and comfortable when loaded down. no flattening of the cushioning inside the straps. That said it is not worth the $300+ price increase from the $230 i paid. You can find bags of the same quality from other brands at around the $200-$250 price point. Do not pay $500+ for this bag. max I'd pay $300 for it.

Balancing Act
Quite a balancing act when you buy an item like this. I feel like my gear is well protected, and as a pack (camera or otherwise) it is reasonably comfortable, and I have done a lot of backpacking. I am 6'2" tall and this bag gives you lots of adjustability. I am also 65 years old, so comfort and weight are becoming more important every day. I looked hard at the Pro Tactic 450 pack, but users warned that it may not be the best choice if you are tall, and not as adjustable. There are a lot of different setup options in the Pro Trekker for the interior and room for a lot of storage. I didn't have any problems getting it in the overhead on my trip to Oregon, but I did take off the top pouch and store it under the seat. The pack itself is a bit on the heavy side and I would not recommend it to a vertically challenged person. But there are other great options in the Pro Tactic 350 and 450, which might work better. Actually working out of a pack can be a bit cumbersome, and you need a little space to peal back the flap on this pack, but when you do, you have access to everything, but you also have exposure of everything. There is not a "quick access" option with this pack. Depending on what and where I'm shooting, I like to use a sling and leave this in the trunk. I like the tripod dropdown pouch and the rain cover tucks nicely out of the way but is readily accessible. I carry a Nikon 810 with a 70-200 4.0, a 17-35, 50mm, and a Nikon D7000 with a 18-105. Of course miscellaneous crap. When loaded the pack is heavy, but that may be the kitchen sink I also threw in there too. This pack is great for equipment moving and storage, and I need that on big trips. But you will also need other options for speed and flexibility. Based on their need (and size), I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Form and Function
If you have to carry big glass over a moderate or greater distance, this pack has everything you need and nothing that you don't. The design combined the best features of a high-quality, highly-adjustable backpack with the sleek, spare exterior of a modern camera bag. In the main compartment of mine I currently carry a Nikon 600mm F/4, with a D850 body attached, and a foam ground pad/seat wrapped around them (with a couple of inches of room to spare at the top). The convenient side lashing feature (lashing straps included) allows me to carry a folding stool on one side and a reasonably large carbon fiber tripod with gimbal head on the other side. Storage compartments in the lid, and zippered pouches on the back and hip belt have room for rain sleeve, wallet, keys, batteries, SD cards and more. Total weight, fully packed: 30 lbs. Just what the doctor ordered!
