The Excellent Linx 8 tablet, very highly recommended.

*by V***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 December 2014*

Truly amazing 8" Windows 8.1 tablet for the money, i must say it is worth more !, i paid £79 on lightning deal and I'm very happy, i've already got a Dell Windows 8.1 tablet, a 10" and thought i'd give this one a look, it easily outperforms the Dell one.The Display is very good with no problems at extreme angles.Sound quality is very good indeed.WiFi reception is good.Speed of general operation is excellent and well above what i expected, no lag at all.Having 1 GB of ram seems to make little difference in operation, maybe if you multitask a lot this might make matters different but i don't so i can't comment in how well it will cope under a heavy multitasking situation.I have had some older games running on it to see how it would cope, Battlefield 2 runs great on medium settings, i haven't tried that game in high setting as medium is adequate on a 8 inch screen but i have a feeling it would handle full setting.Half-Life 2 runs on High settings without any problems, smooth and very cool to see a game like this on a Tablet, for me anyway as its still one of my all time favorite games, i had it stored on a SD card so loading was a little slow as you progress through the game but i found that was not a problem for me as it only loads once in a while and gives you a short break !, still imo to have this kind of game although a few years old running on a tablet that cost only £79 is nice and shows how capable it can be.I tried the Micro HDMI as well, it stated that it is a Mini HDMI but it is a MICRO HDMI connector, anyway i connected it to a widescreen monitor and used the windows settings not the intel graphics settings to get the resolution and scaling sorted out, i extended the tablet's display onto the monitor without any problem, works perfectly.I tried out using a Bluetooth keyboard and had no problems setting it up and it worked well. With a micro USB to full size USB it worked fine with a USB memory stick playing a full 1080p film without any problem. This tablet could easily be used as a media center with a HD tv e.g. Micro HDMI to TV, Bluetooth keyboard with track-pad to control it, micro usb for power permanently, SD card or NAS to store your media and web access for YouTube etc, for around £100 or less that is hard to beat imo. After a day or two trying things out with this little tablet i HIGHLY recommend it and find it extremely hard to faultit this price and probably even double the price, there are still some things i've not tried, the cameras for example.Imo if you are looking for a cheap Tablet that is as good as something far more expensive get it, it is very well made and performs brilliantly and especially for the money, imo windows 8.1 tablets are better than iPad or Android for versatility, being able to use all my Windows software and peripherals is a major advantage of Windows 8.1, it is very easy to use once you get used to the differences from Windows XP or 7 etc and actually better.Anyway i hope some of what I've written has helped you consider this excellent little Tablet PC, and it is a full blown PC after all ! and again i must say highly recommended.

A windows tablet that has a real full OS in it + plus a lot more, & now there's a keyboard addition

*by G***M on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2014*

Out of all the tablets i've used, including apples, this is one of, if not, the best tablets considering that it cost less than £100.First off, for the money, you get a 'real' Windows 8.1, not a small tablet dodgy OS but the real one that you get on any PC. (There's more than £100 to start with). Plus, you get a 1 year free subscription to Office 365, (For free, and still this tablet sells for less than £100).The tablet itself is as fast as most laptops, and a lot faster than any android devices out there. It scrolls smoothly and opens programs/files etc when i ask it too, not a minute or so later as some Androids tend to do.The wide-screen is so clear and the speakers, 2 of them, make it quite a pleasure to watch movies on this. This is easy to hold, being a rectangular shape rather than a square, and when you turn the tablet the screen moves with you, although there is a second delay as it goes about it.The cameras are both 2MP and are not the greatest of camera to be honest, but they are good enough for the likes of skype and that.bThe back of this is a plastic but it has a strange feel to it, a nice feel, which makes holding it a little easier as it doesn't feel like it is going to slip out of my hand.As i said, it runs 8.1 so if you have used it before on a PC then you know what to expect. If not then give it a go, it's not as bad as people shout about once you get the general idea of how it works.Update 5/12/15I have the 8 inch, which is used by my wife, and I was so happy with the way that worked that I bought the 10 inch which came with the keyboard. As I have already written a review on the tablet itself, with the 10 inch offering the same guts as the 8 inch, with a larger screen, plus, as the 10 inch I bought was a 1010B, it had docking pins on the lower section, opposite the on/off & volume control switches, which are no longer on the top but just off to the rear.Anyway, The tablet is brilliant, well worth buying and this already came with Windows 10, so no need to do the full update from 8.Now, the keyboard. This keyboard is a good size and responds instantly, as if this was a permanent keyboard connection. The hinge type docking system is a little 'tight' when the tablet isn't slotted into it, but with the tablet docked the hinge moves easily, allowing the tablet to be pushed at a perfect angle to see the screen whilst using the keyboard. The keyboards layout is standard, almost, with a few keys being in a slightly different place and the fact you do need to use other keys to use certain other keys is nothing to worry about. The only downside, for me, is that I can not get the touch pad to disable 'tap to click' method, which I don't really care for. I've tried all sorts of methods but I'm struggling to figure it out. but that's just a slight negative for me and may not be for others. It's not such a negative to make me annoyed it so I won't be throwing it away because of it.In all, this updated review, for the keyboard, is if you have the 1010B and want an external keyboards then you can't go wrong with this one,

    Fun but faulty

*by M***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 January 2015*

This tablet reviewed well! It's priced fantastically! The only downside. I have been through two of these units and both have turned out to be faulty. The problem!? It appears to be the power pack. The device gets very very wa around the battery area ( even when it's not charging) this lead my device to reboot or switch off entirely! Charging also appeared to be an issue on both of the units I recieved. I could. Have the unit on charge for a full night and when I came to unplug it , it showed only a 45% charge. Now I may be a very rare case. And that's why I am still giving the unit a 3-5. I cannot stress to you enough that when the device worked. It was a dream to use. Much better than my iOS device. Windows 8.1 is fun , slick and really well thought out. And withe the now free upgrade to windows 10. You have a bargin on your hands!Just keep an eye on the charging
