Review: Packs a punch!! - Got this to replace my 3rd gen i5 Nuc which I was using as a download rig. However playing 4K media from that was a disaster. The chip just disnt have enough power. Since I already having a gaming rig, the replacement for the current NUC had be something with a small foor print. Considered the Zotac MEK1 however its foot print is quite a lot more than the NUC. I am using this as a download rig and HTPC. The system is capable enough to handle any and all media that you might want to play. However HDR passthrough using MadVR is a pain to get to work. Perfoemance wise its great for such a small box. Dont ever intend to game on this so dis not test the same. Cooling is great and the fan rarely kicks in even though profile is set to Cool. Overall happy with the produ t. The only concern is that the seller OnlineKing didnt send a sealed unit.

**Q: Is this a complete system or bare bone?**
A: No ram or hard drive or OS.

**Q: Can  you install windows 7 on this platform? no: windows 7 does not have usb3 driver native and makes it impossible to install.**
A: Windows 7 does support USB 3.0 install from USB not 3.1 you can install via a usb if it a 3.0/2.0 USB drive or if you updated the bios it works fine.

**Q: Does this come with a Vesa Mount so I can mount it to the back of my 34" monitor?**
A: Yes, comes with metal plate that will screw into a VESA mount.  As long as your monitor has a separate stand, you can attach the NUC to back of the monitor.

**Q: How many threads does the nuc8i7hvk processor have?**
A: CPU: i7-8809G 4 cores 8 threads Base 3.10 GHz

Got this to replace my 3rd gen i5 Nuc which I was using as a download rig. However playing 4K media from that was a disaster. The chip just disnt have enough power. Since I already having a gaming rig, the replacement for the current NUC had be something with a small foor print. Considered the Zotac MEK1 however its foot print is quite a lot more than the NUC. I am using this as a download rig and HTPC. The system is capable enough to handle any and all media that you might want to play. However HDR passthrough using MadVR is a pain to get to work. Perfoemance wise its great for such a small box. Dont ever intend to game on this so dis not test the same. Cooling is great and the fan rarely kicks in even though profile is set to Cool. Overall happy with the produ t. The only concern is that the seller OnlineKing didnt send a sealed unit.
