No extra tools were required for assembly—everything needed was provided. When it arrived, 3 of the springs had gotten lost in transit. Safly Zone customer service was very responsive to my emails and immediately sent out not 3, but 6 extra springs. They were so courteous and helpful that I felt the need to write a review. The product itself is exactly what I wanted for a fantastic price. I put it together by myself over 3 days, working 1-1.5 hours each day. I must admit it was work, and I was sore afterward, but I was able to assemble it on my own without too much trouble. With a second set of hands to help it should be a breeze.
