Review: Nicely made, works great on SSD drives - I had another vendors product (purchased from desertcart some years ago) which seemed to work ok but after repeated insert and removal in a Trayless Hot Swap unit, it started giving me odd problems... It would take ages to be recognized and caused booting to fail to see the boot drive etc. I thought at first it might be the Hot Swap unit but after some testing and playing, it seemed like it was the other Drive convertor. I like this new one, although it's very simple and basic. It is thinner and as you can see allows for an enormous amount of air circulation which the previous unit did not. I never had overheating issues but if I was using a spinning drive, this would be a much better unit. The frame is metal and appears well made and solid. Came with 2 sets of different size screws and I had zero fitting issues. Nice unit

I recently wanted to upgrade my old All-In-One PC with an SSD drive instead of the old mechanical drive. First I cloned the original drive onto the new SSD drive. The new SSD drive fit perfectly in the adapter, and the adapter lined up perfectly with the HD port in the PC. I was able to secure it with the same screws that the mechanical drive used in the original bracket in the PC. I also upgraded the RAM and now my PC is much faster and has new life breathed into it. The Fenlink Drive Converter is well-made of solid metal and is very rigid. It is well crafted and the holes lined up perfectly with the standard hole patterns of the original drive bracket. **Q: How long is the warranty on this in months/years. (e.g. "Two year manufacturer's warranty" or "Six months warranty". Is it listed on the packaging?**
A: I'm not really sure, but this part has no electronics, the circuit board is merely there to extend the hard drive connector to the end of the adapter, circuit traces instead of wires. If this works when you first plug it in, there's really nothing that can go bad on it, so I wouldn't use warranty as a selling point. I use these in server environments, they are great, very similar to the Adaptadrive adapter, only less expensive. Keep in mind that this adapter is necessary if you need the connectors to mimic the connector location of a 3.5" drive exactly, such as in a hot plug tray or backplane environment. If that's not necessary and your cables can plug directly into the drive, then an inexpensive adapter like the Sabrent 2.5 Inch to 3.5 Inch Internal Hard Disk Drive Mounting Kit (BK-HDDH) works just fine.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Positions the SATA Connector Correctly

Does what it's supposed to do. It allowed me to replace the 1TB 3.5" mechanical HDD in a 12-year-old Cavalry external drive enclosure. Weight, heat dissipation and power consumption were reduced; access speed and reliability were increased. I don't remember if I found this in other reviews before purchasing, but the frame of the adapter is not plastic. It's actually powder-coated cast aluminum, or some alloy thereof. It's sturdy but also quite heavy. Not as heavy as the 3.5" mechanical HDD that it replaced, but it definitely weighs more than the SSD itself. There are 8 screws included in the package and no instructions, so to clarify for anyone wondering: The washer-head screws are metric (M2.5 or M3, I believe) and secure the SSD to the frame. The pan-head screws are #6-32 and attach the frame to whatever mounting points would have secured the old 3.5" mechanical drive in the computer chassis. All of the mounting points of a 3.5" drive are retained, which contributes greatly to ease of installation. The fit is exact and, as others have pointed out, this adapter positions the SATA connector in the same place it would be on a mechanical hard drive. This is critical if you're replacing a drive that plugs directly into a connector without cables. This would probably not work for those "tool-less" hard drive bays that pop the drive out when the door is opened (such as in a server or NAS device), since those rely on the thickness of the HDD as well as its length and width for the lever mechanism to engage properly.
