Review: A PC fan with NO WEAKNESSES and SO MANY POSITIVES - Notuca has done it again, producing a great product and this time at an even better price. This fan is very good in several categories with no real downsides. These are premium high end fans, so it vastly outclasses stock case fans. Material quality is great, just by touching it and holding it, the whole thing feels much more premium. Right out of the box it feels good. Noise level is great, but do be sure to set the fan curves in your BIOS, otherwise they will be running with a bit of noise on full RPM, which is overkill. They move so much air as it is, there is little reason to run them so hard and it creates an unneeded noise level. So do set a fan curve, for sure. Highly versatile! It’s got great static pressure AND great airflow so you can comfortably use them on radiators or as case fans. Not all fans can say the same in terms of versatility. They do look alright to the eye, not some fancy RGB, but they are about functionality. Noctua has never been known for being flashy, but I highly recommend their anti-vibration pads for a nice accent as well as mitigating the vibrations for even less noise. Above all, the price point is what knocks it out of the park for me. There simply is no better fan for this price. I’m not saying it can’t be outperformed, but anything that would do so would easily cost more than twice as much. Performs like a $20-$30 fan, yet cost nearly half that. Unless you are able to or willing to, shell out anything for PC performance I don’t see why you wouldn’t use these. For most enthusiast, this is certainly sufficient and effective. Unless you are some mega enthusiast with a 3 grand rig in the tower, this is great. Great for enthusiast looking for premium cooling without breaking the bank.
Review: My Goto Fan - Half the price of the As, better pressure and airflow with only a couple dB(A) more but in truth, I can barely hear these when they are at max RPM, just a low whoosh of air, nothing annoying. Works in our home theater just splendidly. I replaced the fans on the ThermalRight Assassin with these because they have more airflow and pressure and a high rated MTBF whereas the stock 120s on the Assassin were not rated at all. So five total, one on lower front, one on very bottom, one on rear of the case and two on the CPU cooler. The case fans have screen dust filters. Cinebench results right up there with their top slot, difference accountable by running background processes. i7-13700K running @5400 when needed, Asus Z790-Plus, G.SKILL (2x32) CL28-34-34-89, one 2T 990pro m.2 and two 1T SATA SSDs , MSI Ventus RTX 4060 8GB, pretty darn good for all these heat producers and simple air cooling. Case is a heavily modified and ancient Antec P160. Three of these fans mounted on the case pull cool air in and exhaust out the top which was cutout ~5x10 with a nibbler and covered with 6x6 galvanized HW cloth (heat rises). All fans controlled by Asus AI cooling 2. What I find interesting is that I hardly ever hear these fans. They spend the vast majority of time between 700 and a 1000rpm even when playing BG3 and are inaudible to me. A testament that they move sufficient air to keep everything cool at quiet low rpms. Love these fans.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many cfm, or cubic feet per minute?**
A: Google says "120,2 cubic meters per hour to cubic feet per minute = 70,747049 (cubic feet) per minute." I can type that in with the best of them.

**Q: Is this an airflow fan or a static pressure fan?**
A: The fan blades are shaped for static pressure. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KF7PPY4/ref=psdc_11036291_t1_B07CG2PGY6 are shaped for airflow. These are static optimized fans

**Q: If I want to only use two wires on this fan for max speed, which leads should I use green / black ?**
A: Here's some info that might help you, and should answer that question giving you some confidence... that extra pin on a 4 pin fan is the digital speed control -- this is why the fan goes at max speed if plugged into a 3 pin connector (letting the 4th pin just hang over the side), rather than a a 4 pin connector. Pin number 3 is what tells your motherboard the rotations per minute (RPM) of the fan. So, all that you are left with is the first two pins. The first pin is ground (almost always black) and the second pin is the power (it's 12 volts, but you can get 5 volts from the a custom connector from the power supply instead of the 4 pin motherboard connector if you want to have a slower fan). Here's a chart:

For 4-Wire Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Controlled Fans

Pin Name Description	Wire color(usual)
1	GND Ground black
2	+12V	Fan Power	yellow
3	SIGNAL	Fan RPM green
4	PWM	Digital Control	blue

So to answer your question, yes it is possible to just use the first two pins (regardless of color, although the first one is almost always black, but the color of the second one is not always the same).

**Q: Will the pwm control on this fan stop it completely even with power to +12v/gnd?**
A: On my motherboard (ASUS X99-E WS), can't speak for any other motherboards, any percentage below 50% results in no movement, giving you only really adjustment between 50-100%. I found this somewhat frustrating, but I do prefer this to them never coming to a complete stop.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Noctua does it best
*by N***. on June 26, 2026*

These redux fans are a great value. They are Noctua quality without being $25 each. They are quiet, yet still powerful. In my personal builds I won't put anything else in my PC's. It's not the cheap way out, and there are tons of other great value fans out there. But Noctua does it best.
