There are no seams. no rattles. feel great in hand. like any ever used in a tournament. compared side by side to sons university club set in a much nicer bag, but the pieces in this USCF set are of same mold but do not have seams that we can feel or see. very nice. Board is tournament quality like any ever used in a tournament. Heavy vinyl. Review: Great budget/portable set - Every chess set I played with growing up was more of a travel set than a full sized one, so I was surprised at how large a tournament standard set is. I like it though, the pieces are nice and big and hard to knock over with the weight in the base. As long as you have a hard surface to put the mat on, it works just fine especially for mobility. I don't really like it on carpet, but its usable. I opted for the blue because I wanted something classier looking than green/red but its not as drab as just black. I really like it. Other details: The set includes 2 queens for both sides which I appreciate. The ziplock bags that hold the pieces in the box are too wide to fit in the carrying bag so you will just have to put the pieces in the bag with no container, or find something thinner than can still fit. The volume of the bag holds the pieces no problem though.The look and feel of the pieces is plenty acceptable for 25 dollars. I think they are nice enough to upgrade just the board later. I was so glad I got the triple weight, it was well worth it. Now you can play outside in wind. The pieces are large and heavy. You even get extra queens. The bag for it is a bit tight, you need to load in the board and then put the pieces in the middle to make it fit, but when you remove them you need to dump out the pieces and then remove the board.
