## Overview

The TetraPond Bio-Active Pressure Filter is engineered for ponds up to 1,500 gallons, featuring advanced mechanical and biological filtration systems. Its easy-to-clean design and trusted Tetra quality make it a reliable choice for maintaining a vibrant aquatic environment.

## Description

Since 1951, Tetra has developed the world’s most comprehensive body of fish food knowledge, and fishkeeping enthusiasts have looked to the brand for products and solutions that add ease and beauty to their home. Whether you're an experienced hobbyist or just starting out, Tetra has everything you need – from a large variety of quality fish food and innovative equipment to test kits and decor. The Tetra® Pond Bio-Active Pressure Filter helps keep pond water clear and healthy. Using both mechanical and biological filtration to help maintain clear and healthy pond water, this easy-to-use filter features unique, open-profile bio-activators to provide a large surface area to clean with maximum efficiency as pond water is forced through. After running through the cycle, the filtered water is returned to the pond by waterfall or stream. Once your pond is clean, the last thing on your mind is getting your hands dirty cleaning out the filter. That’s why we designed an easy backflush valve that can help you complete the cleaning process efficiently. You won’t even need to open up the filter; just remove the backflush cap and you’re good to go. Backflushing prevents dirt buildup so that all surface areas of the bio-activator media can remain active for biological activity. With its robust functionality, this filter works for ponds up to 1,500 gallons.

Review: Fantastic fix for pond! - I was struggling to keep my new pond clean and free from algae and my previous pump clogged literally after 1 week. After doing some research I decided to try this filter along with a Tetrapond pump. Wow! What a difference it made in about 10 days. No more clogs in the fountain and the water clarity settled down and is easy to maintain. Very easy to clean as well. Note that this filter is MUCH bigger than it appears. I was able to hide it under an upside down half oak barrel, that now has a potted plant on it. For reference, my pond is 12 x 12 and 3 feet deep. Holds an estimated 2,200 gallons.
Review: Took a little while to clear the pond but it looks better than ever! - We have a 1500 gallon pond that we've been just sort of winging it since we bought the house 4 years ago. The summers are hot in NC and the algea gets out of control. We also have a lot of trees dropping debri in the pond. We finally got in there and scooped a lot of the crap out which made the water very murky. We had a pump and filter combo from AquaSource that was so nasty to clean out. In the summertime we would have to clean it two or three times a week just to get the water to circulate through the pump. On a local Facebook group I asked what kind of pump I could use that would not get clogged up and everyone suggested the Tetra large debris pump with this filter hooked up to it. The first couple days we were pretty disappointed that we didn't see much clarity. However, after 3 weeks the pawn looks better than it's ever looked. Because the pond was so scummy and murky to begin with, I did the back flush every other day to clean out the filter and added fresh water to the pond since the backflush causes a lot of water loss into the yard. So we've had it for about a month now and the back flush option is really awesome. One thing to be mindful of is the attachment sizes of this unit are rather large (1 1/4 and 1 1/2). It's hard to find pond tubing that size locally And we also ended up having to buy a new waterfall box because our old waterfall box only had a 3/4 in max inlet. So if you end up going with this filter, I would definitely recommend buying your hosing in any other accessories you need online. We used the Tetra large debris handling 3000 gallon pump with this and it's working great.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you winterize this in an area that gets below freezing?**
A: I live in NJ and every fall I shut the flow valve to the filter - I have a waterfall that I let run for a few more weeks until we start getting ice - disconnect the filter from the water line. I then clean it out - in particular the material inside that the good bacteria grows on - and place it in the garage to dry out for a few weeks. I then take it down into the cellar for the winter. I know of no way of winterizing it in place and leaving it ourside for the winter. The water will freeze and I wouldn't want to add even "non-toxic" anti-freeze to any pond equipment. Hope that helps.

**Q: I still need a pump for this right?**
A: Yes you do. I use a Tetrapond DHP4200 Debris Handling Pump. Don't use a pump stronger then that.

**Q: am going to buy the BP2500. Want to know what inlet and outlet pipes diameter are?**
A: Inlet/Outlet	1.25 in., 1.5 in./1.25 in., 1.5 in.

**Q: Does anyone know the size of the large oring included in the filter? I need to replace the original one I have and the kit is $34 for a lot of extra parts I don't need.**
A: I believe I have the same filter problem and the O ring measures 12 inches across. does this sound like it is the right one? I need to replace it also.

Where do you order the KIT?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Filter
*by J***N on July 20, 2022*

Just installed this pressure filter earlier this week. A bit expensive, but my +4000 gallon pond is really clearing up. I was spending too much time cleaning the smaller cheaper filters. To clean this pressure filter, just turn the knob to clean for a few minutes and let it flush out the dirty water. No more scrubbing filter pads, because this filter does not have any. Even without the filter pads, this filter is trapping a great deal of dirt. Make sure you have a pump that pushes between 2,500 to 4,000 GPH. Spend more time enjoying your pond and less time with maintenance. I just received this filter, but happy with the purchase and setup.
