It is much more substantial than I expected and does a great job!I used this in Florida on some days when every umbrella in sight was going airborne, and this held a 9' umbrella completely steady. The handles are large and comfortable, so it's easy to get good leverage to put this in the sand. The auger is large and thick, so no worries about it breaking or not holding, this thing is rugged. We used it with a pretty big umbrella, and as stated, it worked flawlessly.
