I am also tall (5-11), so I knew what she meant - many styles I have tried were too short to get "up under" that behind-the-knee area, especially when I was already stretching them to the max in the width dimension; these MOJO socks fit great, for me, in BOTH directions, in BOTH open-toe and closed-toe styles (neither was too short). And - sorry for the short people -but the shorter folks might end up with too much fabric at the knee or ankle, but I was pleased that these were long enough. I will gladly take too much fabric, over too little, any day. Toe band should be a little narrower the width of sock. Might help it from riding up and over puffed up foot. I have not seen my normal size feet for a few years. But because they slide up the puffy area, that area is not getting full benefits. I can see eventually needing smaller size sock. Just purchased one size down to try. Style is nice wish for Navy and dark purple colors as I wear dresses and would like to match. The pink too much like baby girl pink would prefer a bit darker color more like picture. Will continue to buy until they no longer work for my feet. I'm pretty good about waggling my ankles to keep the blood moving, and hiking up and down the aisles, but these support the whole leg. They are supposed to be knee-high, but they are longer; they come over my knee. (Yeah, I've got short stumpy little legs; not really, but they are obviously shorter than these stockings were designed for.) They are VERY snug, which is what I wanted. That makes getting them on a bit of a challenge, but I managed without much trouble. The instructions are explicit that the tops are NOT to be rolled over; doing so would double the elastic pressure in a small area around the top of the calf. Well, I had to, because after walking through the airport, the tops over my knees had rolled down to just under/behind them, and they were pinching. So once we were airborne, I ducked into the loo and carefully folded them down and smoothed the tops so they wouldn't roll. Much more comfortable and they stopped pinching as they had when they were rolled down. Smoothing them equalized the pressure and spread it out so it wasn't such a narrow band. I am claustrophobic and don't like my toes to be confined. I also am diabetic and didn't want to chance binding them in right elastic. That's why I bought these, with the open toes and closed heels. Having my toes free to flap in the breeze was important to me and made these very tight stockings quite comfortable. Getting them off is an adventure. The instructions say to roll them down to the ankle, slip your hands into them to ease them over the heels, and then pull them off. Well, that wasn't going to work because they were too tight around my ankles for my fingers to fit in. So I pulled them down, inside out, pulled them off my heels from the outside, and then pulled them off from the open toes. Getting them off was like taking off a corset or girdle - relief! These are comfortable once they're on and they certainly provide plenty of support. But for travel, they didn't prevent my ankles from swelling. Hours of foot-wagging and ankles rolls, and hikes in the aisle, probably do as much to prevent that as these do.
