I had read that Vitamin C was one of the things that has proven effective to lighten the dark patches. However, before I gave it to her, I decided to try it myself...I have the normal signs of wear and tear on my 60ish year old skin, some slight wrinkling around the eyes and deeper wrinkles around the mouth.I absolutely love the way this serum feels. It is goes on so silky smooth and my foundation application is so much easier...it just glides on. It absorbs immediately into the skin without leaving any hint of oiliness. I have used it twice a day for a week, and have actually noticed an improvement in the lines around my mouth, which I always figured was a lost cause. I am assuming that improvement will continue, as I use it consistently.My overall skin tone is evening out, as well. I hate to give it to my daughter, so will probably just keep this one for myself. I realized this within the 60 day period so I sought a refund. The seller,Cool Stuff Rockstar, got back to me quickly citing an "honest mistake" and provided a data sheet with an updated ingredient list, listing "Micro-encapsulated Vitamin C 20% (with Vitamin A and Vitamin E)" instead of Ascorbyl Palminate- as the Amazon description also reflects. I never know a serum can. I always pay attention to the expiration date on everything. When I got the bottle, the shelf life is 24 months, and it was manufactured back in Nov. 2013, I know that I have to use it right away. (I am pretty surprised to get a product that has a short life left to use).I am almost going to give it a four star because I do not like the smell. I guess I am more used to a cosmetic serum fragrance. This one has a funny smell, not incredibly strong to a point that I can't stand, but it definitely not a pleasant one. It smells like ... hmm.. oil. Despite of smell, this serum goes on very smoothly, and leave my skin very silky and soft. This is 100% true because I do not like the smell but that silky feeling feels wonderful. It is not oily nor sticky. The smell goes away eventually, not too long, so I like this serum.
