A: There’s a lever under the seat. When sitting on seat, lifting the lever allows you to either raise or lower the seat. Works very well.

**Q: If i purchase one with the backrest, can i use it without the backrest just the same? (the color i want is out of stock without the backrest)**
A: There is absolutely no truth to the commenter who said leaving the backrest off would destabilize it. That's rediculous. Any craftsmen would know a stool WITHOUT a backrest or arms is highly desirable. Sometimes you just need a stool. Your posture is better simply sitting straight up which the saddle seat encourages due to its positioning.

**Q: is there a washable slipcover available for this saddle stool?**
A: No. It does not need on. Just wipe clean
