We added it as part of a kitchen remodel, and it clears the air better than anything I've ever seen in any kitchen! The steerable lights in the back part of the hood are really handy and if you have a nice backsplash, they will accent it nicely.The only drawback is noise. According to the manual, the fan for this unit can be mounted outside the unit down the vent pipe, and it would be a good idea to consider that option. Mounted in the hood, it's quite loud. Conversation is possible, but if you play a radio or music while cooking, you're going to have to turn it up quite a bit to be audible over the fan, even on its lowest setting.
