One of those knives you can tell is quality just by how it feels in your hand. Really nice steel with Micarta scales that give you a good sense of security in the hand. The blade shape is perfect. I've always really loved the "leaf" shape that you typically find on Spyderco's, but this one is really beautiful and precise. The blade geometry is just fantastic. My ONLY reason to give 4 stars for "comfort" is due to the handle shape. While it is perfect for a strong grip in the "regular" grip, it does not lend itself to really any other kind. I mean, you can hold it in a reverse grip, but it's not exactly comfortable. This is just a personal opinion and should not take away from the stellar quality, build and fit and finish of this blade. Make sure you take a look at the handle and make sure it's what you want, and if so, go ahead and click "buy". You won't be disappointed. It was lighter in the hand than my Boker Plus 02BO055 Colubris Knife which I really enjoy using. Great knife, but disappointing sheath; thin leather **Q: Are the handle scales 3D contoured?** A: Yes they are contoured canvas micarta and fit in the hand very well and give a very secure grip. **Q: What kind of steel is this knive's blade made of?** A: I believe mine is made from N690 stainless steel. My knives are subjected to substantial abuse and this has held up excellently. **Q: Quality on the sheath?** A: Well constructed. Good looking, in a rugged non-fussy way. But what you really want to know is how well it holds and releases the knife. Mine is secure. I can shake it upside down and the knife stays put. When I pull the handle, the knife comes out. Again, no muss, no fuss. But there is a catch; it is made of leather. There will be variations from one sheath to another. Fits my hand like it was molded to it. Sharp as a razor out of the box. Great steel and grippy handle make for a great knife.
