He could use it to pull himself and sit up in bed, and then use it as a grab bar to stand up and steady himself while getting out of bed. I liked it because I could pivot it down and out of the was to make the bed easier. Not to mention the pouch to keep the remote and other things he needed to have close. What a great product! Would recommend it to anyone who struggles with mobility!

very good bedrail. It feels substantial enough to feel safe, has handy pockets, can adjust length, and when necessary, with a simple tug on a knob, it will fold down. The only issue is getting it secured properly to the bed. Once you do, there really isn't a reason to take it off again. The straps go under the mattress and hook on to the opposite part of your bedframe. I recommend only putting weight to pull towards the bed, and not away. Also, don't count on the bedrail to keep your stuff from falling on the floor under it. I did read online that people use pool noodles for things like that, though. Oh--I got this bedrail for myself about 6 years ago because I am old and silly and kept falling out of bed.
