## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the disk that fits under the lid supposed to come loose?**
A: Have had one for years, old style nearly indestructible. It has a thin plastic disc that goes in the bottom, never had any material break or chip off. The inside of the top is slotted so they fit together by turning. Made this way so you can clean the entire unit. If you try and work it without having it installed on the glass jar the inner portion of the top will pop out, it isn’t designed to do that for whatever reason you have in mind. 
since it isn’t designed to do that.

**Q: When the blades go down, do they hit the glass?  i don't want to chop glass.  nor do i want to put the plastic piece on the bottom and chop plastic.**

I had one for decades, but then lost it when I moved and I've been looking to buy a new one for years; however, it seems local shops are now only carrying modern style onion choppers that merely bash up/mash up onions without actually chopping them, so I'm so happy to find the classic (effective) onion chopper featured here :) The quality of this one is standard and just as described. The design of this device is simple, so it's easy to operate and clean. It's perfect when you just need to quickly chop/prep a small amount of food (like an onion, garlic, a celery stalk, some herbs, etc.) without having to drag out and plug in a food processor or one of those cumbersome box-type contraptions. This chopper is light enough to just grab with one hand, deposit a few peeled sections of onion and start plunging the bladed shaft up and down until you reach your desired fineness of chopped or minced pieces (which happens relatively fast). I'd like to highlight that this device is perfect for people like me, who don't have the level of dexterity to utilize the knife skills necessary to quickly chop onions and the like. I also enjoy the fact that chopping with this device takes place inside an enclosed glass, so it reduces/avoids... *the accidental cuts which sometimes happen while chopping food with an exposed blade *the direct exposure of sensitive eyes and noses to the Sulphur released when chopping onions *the stinging/burning on fingers from chopping certain chilies by hand *the staining associated with chopping certain beets/beetroot and similar foods *the quick oxidation of prepped ingredients waiting to be added to the main recipe Needless to say, I can definitely recommend it :)
