## Description

Lunapads uniquely designed washable cloth pads feature 2 parts: a leak-resistant Pad Base with wings that fasten around the gusset of your underwear, and an Insert that is secured to the top of the Pad Base with ric-rac bands. Watch Video. Not sure what size to order? It's all about coverage! Use your current choice of disposable pad as a guideline. Need more coverage? Less? We offer Pads & Inserts in sizes ranging from 8" to 14" long. What about absorbency? Made of 2 layers of highly absorbent fleece, Inserts absorb the majority of your menstrual flow, leaving the Pad Base relatively clean and dry. Additional Inserts may be added to increase absorbency and prevent leaks. Our Pad Base contains a leak-resistant lining to minimize soaking through. The Long Pad + Insert set is suitable for average to heavy/overnight menstrual flow or light incontinence. Long Pads are compatible with insertable Long Basic Inserts and Long Wing Inserts to provide increased absorbency. Long Pads and Inserts are each 12" (30.5cm) long and approximately 2.5" (6.5cm) wide when snapped. Note: When choosing the appropriate length for you, please allow for a 5-10% rate of shrinkage after washing.

    Menstrual Magnificense

*by K***T on Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2016*

I'm about to be blunt and honest. If you don't like "female talk", just know these are great. With that said, here's my tale of success. For several years, I've been looking for a better solution. Though I like the environment a lot, it had nothing to do with my choice to switch to reusables. No, I just hate my period, get awful cramps, and detest having a trash can full of wads of toilet-paper-covered tampons. When I say "awful cramps", I mean I've had doctors prescribe narcotic pain medication. I mean it's a day off work, nausea, and missing a lot because all of the medications make me sleep, even the OTC ones. I discovered years ago that tampons made my cramps worse. I don't know why, and I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but they did. But I didn't want to go back to the pads I used in high school, so I just kept using them. After my third child was born, I had some issues that made tampons hurt (yes, after the requisite "nothing in the birth canal" stage). I'd purchased a menstrual cup some time back, and while I loved it, it didn't work for me in that moment either. And the disposable pads I was using were chafing my intimate spots in ways I did not appreciate. (Is there a way you CAN appreciate that? Didn't think so.)Then I bought these. Oh my goodness, what a difference!1. They work. This is important! If it doesn't work, it's not a good product. I don't care how environmentally friendly, health-conscious, or "alternative" they are, if they don't work, they don't work. These work. They absorb what they say they will and more. They keep your period from getting on your pants. Check!2. They stay where you put them. I was afraid of giving up the sticky backing. I just knew that the moment I moved, these were going to slide up my back, or get all bunched up in the front. Nope! Driving, sleeping, walking, cooking, or watching tv, they behaved just like if they had sticky on them. Except I never woke up with a pad stuck to my inner thigh after it came unstuck in the night. So, it turns out that "no sticky" has actually been a bonus. Who knew? Oh, and my hair never gets stuck in the non-existent sticky, yet another plus. If you have hair there, you're nodding in agreement right now, aren't you?3. They are soft. Oh, my goodness, they are soft. That means I have no chafing! It actually feels GOOD to pull these up against your skin. Better than most of my panties, to be honest.4. They're easy to change. You can either change out the insert for a new one, or, if you happen to not have done laundry or be without a spare, you can just take out the insert and continue use! It's like having two pads in one, only without the crazy bulk that would be associated with that. I keep a waterproof bag in my purse if I'm going to be out. I had no problem rinsing these in the bathroom at work, because it's a single. In a public restroom with stalls and open sinks, I'll generally save the rinsing for somewhere more private. Not because I'm at all embarrassed, but out of respect for others who might not feel the same. If it's not my sink, or one I clean, I'm just cautious.5. Fewer Cramps! I know. I know cramps happen in the uterus and no feminine hygiene product extends past the cervix. But the more I read, the more I hear other women saying the same thing. Using pads has helped me to the point that during my last period, I took just Tylenol, and only one dose during the duration of my friend's stay. Since I prefer these pads, I count that as a benefit.6. They're easy to clean. I rinse mine in cold water, then toss them in the wash. Once in a while, I'll hang them in the sun or use the special detergent, but for the most part they get rinsed and tossed, like any other item of clothing you get blood on. No, they do not cause the rest of the clothes in that load to become stained; you've rinsed, remember? No, there's nothing gross about having them with the rest of your clothes when you fold them. At that point they're literally just clean cloth.7. Hello, they're reusable! The money I'm saving on period supplies is awesome. There are two of us in the house, so the savings is multiplied. Now, when that time comes, the hubby just brings chocolate. And he can bring the good chocolate, since he's not buying boxes of pads!Things I Could Like Better:1. Occasionally, my hair will get caught under the straps holding the insert. If I were more deliberate when putting them on, I don't think this would happen. But since there's no sticky, when it does happen it pulls a little and releases, rather than yanking me bald.Seriously, though. You know you need better chocolate when you're ragging. Make this investment so you can spend your period money on, well, anything other than pads and tampons! And, I suppose, so you can have a more comfortable visit from Aunt Flo.(I received NO compensation or discount for this review. I like it, and I hope it helps you, too!)

If you're a first timer, buy at least one of 3-4 brands.

I am new to cloth. After years of allergic reactions, bartholin's cysts, and yeast infections, i give up on disposables! These are just ok. Everyone seems to rave, but I'm not really impressed. Glad I tried several brands rather than go all in on these. Cons: Tiny, tiny snaps are not that easy to hook. Liners are convenient, but do not lay flat under rick rack. The liner is exactly as wide as the base, so it is a bit "bunchy". The rick rack itself is rough and very noticeable to me when worn. Shrank by about 25-30% when washed in warm water and hung to dry (before first use). Also (not surprisingly) they get a little pilly--but they are flannel. They do seem a little bulkier than some (not a problem for me). Pros: They seem to stay in place nicely. They are a good size for me; and are soft and sufficiently absorbent.

Too much layering makes it bulky. Not for me.
